Pyonir, my parents did the same thing when my mom found out she had cancer. They kept telling me that they were just taking "percausions", and that it was all ok. It took years before either my brother or I realized how far advanced she was...heck, I still don't think I really know.
I think they just don't want you to worry, but I totally understand how you feel.
Like everyone has said, diabetes is managable, it just takes some changes. keep your chin up!
