Just found out my dad died

HumblePie

Lifer
He was vacationing with my mom for her birthday with friends of the family we have visited many times over the years on Belize. All I know is he was out sailing and fell out of the boat. By the time they got back to him he drowned. My mom doesn't go out in the water as she didn't learn to swim until she was 30, but my dad loved the ocean. If he could he would spend every day sailing, wind surfing, or any other water activity. At least he went out doing something he loved to do. I got the call a couple hours ago after it happened from my mom who sounded like a wreck on the phone. Working with the embassy there to get her and the body back home.

Really sorry to hear of this, perhaps even more so as a fellow sailor. Falling off a boat is every sailor's secret fear.

Wishing all the best to you and your family.

I am so sorry.

I know you're there for your mom right now, and there will be things you need to do. But you need to grieve too. So let it happen. Talk about how you're feeling, a lot. It really does help.
