Just formatted my E1505

So I finally got fed up with Dell's pre-installed software and decided to format. So far I have the chipset drivers, video drivers, and the touchpad software. I wanna know which display driver am I supposed to use and where to get the program that regulate power usage along with any other drivers I might be forgetting, Thnx.

Go to the support section of the Dell website and look under the Downloads. All the available downloads (including all drivers and some of the preinstalled stuff) will be listed there.

There is no program that regulates "power usage." You need video, chipset, touchpad, network, wifi, modem, and audio.

I do recommend installing Notebook Hardware Control. If you have WiFi issues, you can try the latest driver directly from Intel (assuming you have the Intel card).

I just was wondering if Dell provided you with a recovery disk. I have a Toshiba notebook that has a recovery disk with all the drivers and apps. I could reformat and install another OS and cherry pick what I wanted to install. Also Toshiba had a download area on their website that listed all the apps and drivers for my rig. I'm sure Dell would have something similar.

Dell has an optional media disk (XP CD) and optional discs for applications like Roxio/Sonic and PowerDVD. There is also an optional "resource CD" with drivers. That's about it. They don't include other apps and you can get all the drivers online as well.

Yeah, the usually have a folder on the C: drive called Dell or Drivers, where they store the drivers/software (whereas the restore partition is on a separate or hidden partition).

Yea, except he deleted it, hah. So OP, care to tell us why you didn't just use that Dell Decrapifyer instead of putting yourself through the mess of reinstalling from scratch?

I used the Decrapifier on my Dimension 9100...it left behind numerous registry entries...failed to remove 2 programs completely, and I didnt want my hard drive partitioned like Dell has it..so I needed to take that out anyways
