EA sucks retarded donkey ass.

Anyone who purchased Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit already knows what I am talking about.

For those who dont know - After the suspiciously long install, you try to get into the game and it feeds you wave after wave of video ads and splash screens, then harasses you to create an Autolog account, then harasses you some more when you try to ignore it.
Why do I get the feeling our pirate friends dont have to deal with any of that crap?

But, the good news is once you finally get into the game (15 minutes or so after you install it) its actually a lot of fun. For a short while. But the limited scope of the design means most people will probably get bored after a couple days. I sure did.
Makes me wonder if EA forced the thing out the door just so they could add another NFS title to their lineup.

Also, even though I had fun all it did was serve to remind me that I really want Test Drive Unlimited 2. For those who are unfamiliar, T D : U was a darn fun race game that let you drive all over and do whatever you like, whenever you felt like it. Kinda like Grand Theft Auto but no guns and much better driving. You can also keep as many cars as you want (provided you purchase garage space) and tune them & paint them to your hearts content. Loads of different race modes and it even had bikes, though they werent nearly as much fun as the cars and could easily have been excluded. It was supposed to be the first racing MMO but that didnt quite work out. Single player was still a good time.
TDU 2 comes out early January for all systems and I encourage anyone who's been disappointed with all the mediocre crap recently to at least give it a look.

And dont worry about all the Sims type nonsense with customizing your self, house, car and everything. You can completely avoid all that and still get maximum enjoyment from the game.

Need for Speed: Shift was incredible, it's the only NFS game I think I've ever bought though. Hopefully EA doesn't force these ads down our throats but I'm inclined to think they will and that others will follow suit.

Do any of those have sensitivity adjustment or handling tweaks? Cuz Hot Pursuit didnt and thats been standard on even cheap racing games for many years. Makes me mad when I cant fine tune my racing experience.

It has been a while since I played most of these though. But I really cannot recall any really having sensi or handling adjustments.

I remember Underground 2 has a garage to where you can "tune" the car. But I cannot remember if handling and what not was there.

EDIT: Would just like to add, Need For Speed Pro Street was an abomination. Literally. I swear every car in Pro Street needed a major front end alignment.

Actually Motor City Online I believe was the first real graphical racing MMO and that was a blast but thats another story. Still miss that game alot.

Your review of NFS will keep me away but I have always found the NFS series to a bit lacking in any real depth or re-playability. TDU was a decent game but I found the cars to have a strange handling trait that turned me off. But it did have alot of fun cars and the race design seemed to keep things a bit more interesting. I might it check out.

This is why EA keeps pumping them out. People keeping buying them, regardless of how crappy they are.

I highly doubt EA keeps pumping out Need For Speed games because they have a MentalIlness. :)

OP, I doubt the people that pirate the game get out of it, and I suspect its a big part of why they developed Autolog and then push it so much in game. Sadly, not using Autolog you're missing out on a key aspect of this game. This game is meant to be played multiplayer.

And don't feel bad, its the same on consoles. I actually posted almost the same stuff you did about the 360 version.

I think the game is far from crap, but I was hoping it would be better. I know I'm missing out not playing it multiplayer, but the core game wasn't quite enthralling enough to convince me to stick with it.

One last thing, there is a free drive mode in this game if you just want to drive around.

I have the first 6, but I think Underground 2 is my favorite with Most Wanted being second.

I'll be getting the new Hot Pursuit, but for my 360.

Yea, Underground 2 has the SUV's to use. Don't know why, just don't like Underground 2 much.

Not surprised.

I tried to play NFS: Shift i believe it was, & while it looked nice, the handling was simply impossible, & retarded.

I loved GRID, more than got my money's worth out of it.

I can sorta enjoy DiRT2, but really, i want GRID2.

GRID did everything i like about racing games basically, something NFS has never been able to do.

You can fine tune most of the handling options in the config menu, something sorely missed from Hot Pursuit.

I like Hot Pursuit so far. It seems to be a "back to the basics" Need for Speed that I liked so much about the earlier ones.

I wonder how much effect that actually has on handling though. I played Underground 2 a ton years ago and while I enjoyed it, it's pretty simplistic.

Yes, you can adjust your ride height, spring rate, brake bias, sway bars, gear ratios, etc... but I wonder how much all that actually does.

I really tried hard to get into SHIFT but it just wont work with the analog joypad I have. It would oversteer like crazy. anyway to fix that?

GRID was perfect imo.
and NFS: porsche unlimited was my fav as well.

EA pushed out a game purely for profits? That is like saying water is wet.

The ones I get the biggest kicks out of is their sports games. Every year, the same game with maybe a few updates and new players added in. Yet people buy it every year and don't ask the question "Is this $60 price tag for a glorified patch justified?"

There was a way of configuring the controller and handling settings that ought to make it work a lot better with a lot less oversteer. I remember reading about it when the game first came out. A few Google searches should turn it up for you.

It's still frustrating, though, that you have to mess around with the settings right out of the box to get acceptable handling. Grid didn't suffer from that; I prefer that game anyway.

I love NFS Shift. Its more of a "Gran Turismo" style.
