Wifi card problem, tech support in Atlanta picks up after a despicable 0 minute hold time (it rang directly through), only 3 minutes later they are sending me a box to send my laptop in to replace my card & subsequent stripped screw and i am wishing the gentleman a nice day.

I  IBM/Lenovo.

pssh...Dell has THE BEST service hands down. I really enjoy my 2-hour hold times listening to elevator music. It gives me time to catch up on my nail-chewin which is way overdue. WHen my tech support person answers the phone, I am almost guaranteed a person who doesn't speak English. THis is great because I have always wanted to learn Hindi. And finally when the tech support person is unable to help me, that's really ok since it helps me develop my skills and increase my chances of being employed should I ever find my way to that part of the world.

I  Dell!

Apple has equal support in my books, They both are great.

Well luckily (i guess), i've yet to need to place a call to apple regarding my Mac Mini... 🙂

It's funny how both of the companies that people really like because of their support also charge the most for their product. On the other hand, the el-cheapo of the business has the worst support. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

I remember when Dell was king when it came to service and support AND had the lowest prices. Newegg was the same way. I guess once you are king, there's no reason to keep appeasing the populace.

they rock! i was able to get my laptop fixed in 3 days... shipped to them on wed, got it back on fri... they paid for overnight... if that's not service, i dunno what is

with IBM it's not just their Support that is TOP NOTCH, its everything, design, materials etc.

current owner of a T42 Thinkpad, would NEVER go back to anything else.

Overall I really like my R51... however a few things suck on it... like battery life, certain aspects of the case... those types of things.

The hinge design on this particular laptop sucks, as it has already cracked in a few places... oh well, it still works...

My pre-Lenovo IBM has been sent in 4 times to fix the same problem. A year ago, I sent it in. They returned it, didn't fix the problem despite replacing the motherboard. I sent it back. They returned it, now not only did they not fix the original problem (they changed the motherboard again, even though that obviously wasn't the issue), but half of the keys on the keyboard didn't work! I sent it in a third time, to their so-called RAID department where an actual PC tech called me to discuss the problem and fixed it appropriately. One year later, it started doing the same thing again, this time I had no problems getting it fixed the first time.

So their general service techs seem to be incompetent, but they do have fast delivery! Turn around time for each problem was maybe 4 days, from when I called them to when I got the laptop back. And it's still a better built laptop than my Dell.

Just got a call from a Lenovo sales person about an hour ago. Had no need for any products tho'. (We're pretty much a Dell shop here)

I never have problems with Dell support at work.. but that's because we pay extra for the gold support. 4hr delivery on any workstation part. Over-night for any laptop part. If we need something replaced, it's never a problem.

On that note, I wouldn't bother with Dell's standard support.

I'm going to have to start recommending Lenovo to all my family members now. I used to do Dell and whenever they called me up to ask for "free support" I'd just tell them to call Dell. I tried that recently with my sister-in-law and she still had problems. Time for her to get a Lenovo!

IBM technician who was working on my laptop called me this afternoon.

Just wanted to let me know everything i asked for was done and if i had anything else i may have needed done while it was at the depot.

He said it would be at my door tommorow morning.

 😀
