Yep. Don't expect Ep III to be any better since Lucas only bases the worth of a movie on its box office statistics, and we all know the fans will see it multiple times regardless of whether or not it's a stinker.

Yes, and we all know that visual-effect laden movies like Star Wars episode 2 are best watched at 320x200 resolution on a 17 inch monitor :disgust:

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of reading these threads. Wait until the damn movie hits the theaters before watching it and making judgements on it! :|

Yes Kubrick is dead, and no, no one has liked it yet on AT (I believe) and also, it's a cheesy love story, people from two years ago after Episode I who got the hint of Episode II predicted this one would be cheesy love story and that Episode III would be the good one...all that remains to be seen, Episode III slated for ~2005.

I guess I'll play devil's advocate here. I, for one, liked it.

Eveyone who's watched/read the other star wars stories already know what's going to happen, so there's nothing surprising in it. Is the plot cheesy? Well, I think that all the plots have been cheesy. However, they are still enjoyable and don't require the viewer to take notes to follow.

By itself, it's ok, but it should be viewed as a whole series.

Just my $0.02

I'll still go see it in the theater.

I'll just cut and paste my response from another thread into this one....here goes...

The point people are missing about both EP1 and EP 2 is that they are mainly character based movies where EP 4, 5, & 6 were mainly plot based movies. Yes you still have to have a plot in the new ones but they are primarily focused on Anakin's character and his decent to the dark side. I'm sooooo sorry that you had to sit through some dialog and the whole movie wasn't a big fight, explosion, etc... after another. God forbid they do character development and a background as to how they arrived at the point where EP 4 starts.

A friend I work with read the AOTC book last week and said it flat out rocks if you understand the storyline and all the behind the scenes intrigue. I got sick of him talking about it so I finally bought and read it myself. If the movie is anything like the book it will be excellent. The whole Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidous & Count Dooku/Darth Tyrannus thing is handled very well and will become perfectly clear.

You people whining that there isn't enough action need to go watch some Jean Claude Van Damme or other crap like that since it's obvious you don't have the mental capacity to understand much else.

I really want this to be a good movie, but I have yet to read a good review by anyone thats not a Star Wars "fanboy"

I like Star Wars a lot, but Episode 1 was a let down. I only saw it one time in the theater, and have only watched it a couple times on VHS/TV.

I can't wait though 3 more days till I get to see it :D Im waiting to watch it in the theater first (already have a ticket).

Has anyone noticed that the majority of professional reviewers who saw it in the theatres or an actual good copy on a large TV loved it? Do you think it's just a little bit possible that something was lost in the movie screen to camcorder transition?

<-- he did. much much better than episode 1. like shinerburke already set, it focuses on character development (anakin's) and how things got started in the first place.

also, can anyone tell how what "great acting" there was in 4, 5, and 6? the plots are VERY simple. what was so great about them? besides the fact that most of us saw them through the eyes of a kid, so they made a much bigger impression on us?

Hmm.. I dunno. My friend watched it and said it was amazing. I'll believe him over you guys any day of the week. And I believe seeing it in the theatre does make a difference! Just IMO.

I liked it overall...

The acting was pretty bad (especially Anakin), but I really thought the movie was enjoyable. I can't wait to see it in the theaters, it's going to be MUCH better.

Just so you guys get an idea of the quality, in the beginning, there's a shot of Natalie Portman (like almost the full screen) and I couldn't even tell it was hur. It just looked like a random brunette with a long ponytail. Also the audio is very blotchy, and you can't hear some of the dialogue between the characters.

Yes, one can't really appreciate the plot, dialogue, or acting of a movie unless they see it in theatres.
