said BIOS checksum error, turned off the power, restarted, I can get into windowsxp and do everything fine, but everytime I press the DEL key at start up to get into BIOS my comp freezes. Anyone had this problem? any suggestions on what to do to fix it? btw its an Iwill P4R533-N Rambus p4 board.

d-e-d.

You hosed something up in your BIOS. Try redownloading all the BIOS updates and put it on a brand new floppy disk and try re-flashing to see if you wipe out the problem. But don't take my word for it. See what other people say.

Yeah I don't really think your BIOS is "dead" because if it was you wouldn't even be able to boot up. Try flashing the BIOS, if that doesn't work, leave your comp off for like 10-15 mins. to let it cool down because maybe something is getting too hot. Is anything overclocked? After that try to enter your BIOS, if it still freezes, I got 3 letters for you:

RMA

Did you overclock it or someting like that??? What does Windows report the CPU speed as??

Some boards have a way to reset the factory defaults when they start up (hold down the "crtl" key or something similar, check the mobo manual).

Or you may have to open up the case and clear the CMOS...

Just some ideas...
Good luck

Its been working fine since July and no nothing is overclocked, CPU runs at 39C full load, however I have a Radeon 9700 Pro and my comp freezes sometimes when I alt tab in a game I play called Asheron's Call, with the latest ATI drivers I downloaded, so someone suggested I update my motherboard bios as well, so I tried that.

However the latest bios for my Mboard from Iwill is a PEICE OF S***, and fubared my system. However I was able to reflash back to the 2nd newest bios and everything is working fine again. I went on the Iwill BBS system and I guess alot of other people are having the same problem as me with this newest Bios. So in summary, Iwill and their new bios for the P4R533-N can blow me.

This is exactly why I use a BIOS savior. When a flash goes bad, at least you can flip a switch and be back to your old BIOS like nothing happened.
