Just finished watching the best animated movie I've ever seen.

Grave of the Fireflies. It's an anime that takes place during WW2 and focuses on the lives of two siblings. My mom is crying now, my dad is in tears.. Damn fine movie - definatlely netflix it if you can - Roger Ebert considers it one of the best movies ever made... Review

Excellent movie, If this movie can't make you cry you're a heartless SOB. plain and simple. I don't cry at movies, i usually make fun of things in them, but when i watched this I was stunned and completely mesmerized.
The movie is based on the writer/directors life growing up in Japan during WW2. He lived(obviously) but his sister died of malnutrition and lack of basic medical needs.

I'm not exactly sure... It's not exactly obscure but it's not as mainstream as Princess Monoke, etc. It's worth tracking down thoug.. Or join netflix for their free trial just to rent this movie I'm still thinking about the movie 30 min. after seeing it.. That's so rare lately, especially with the crap I've been seeing at the theaters..

I've seen lots of their output but this movie was something special... My parents could never sit through princess mononoke (i've tried- they fell asleep) but this movie moved them unlike.. Well, any movie I've seen in a long time.. We all forgot that it was a "cartoon," especially a japanese one..

Among Ghibli's greatest title, Grave of the Fireflies is undoubtedly the one that will wreak the most havoc in your emotion. Princess Mononoke is good, but it doesn't have the same emotional level as this one. Then again, Grave is not Miyazaki's creation.

I'm a huge Anime and WWII fan. I've heard of the movie before, but never have I heard such a strong reaction about it from someone. Looks to be very promising.

Netflix for a free trial and then quit.. I mean, it is free after all... Then maybe you'll like netflix so much that you'll keep it for those hard to find yet great movies.. (I don't work for netflix, scout's honor )

Amazon has it but it costs $25.. It's a great movie but I wouldn't say it's a must own.. I mean, it's such an emotional piece of cinema that I don't know if I want to see it again anytime soon. But I really want to show my gf the movie - dammit! Don't get me wrong, I may buy it.. but it's tough to sit through at times and definately not something you just pop into to the dvd player to kill time (like pirates of the car.)

Did you know that the new netflix rating system is based on movies you've rated in the past? So, since you hate animes the system guessed that you would hate this movie..
