I've watched the movie before when it first came out and then I watched it again after finishing the book yesterday.

Many core parts of the book were omitted, downplayed or outright altered - Carlos, Treadstone 71, the Washburn guy, his background in Vietnam, his real name, his real and assumed identity, Marie's character was not at all the same, I prefer the one in the book :) Carlos was such an important part of the plot.. it isn't even the same story anymore.

On the other hand, Jason's abilities is way cool in the movie, car chase etc. and the romance was not as sappy as in the book :p After watching the movie for the first time, I thought the story was awesome.. then I read the book and went :Q:Q:Q. Gonna start the second book soon :D

Cliff's: movie = good, book = good.

Can['t wait for the movie. I wanted to read the second book but I want to enjoy the movie thoroughly and I don't want to nit pick it, if I've read the book first.

I always treat the books and movies as two different stories. I think the reason people get so disappointed with some movies is because they go into it with some preconcieved idea of what it should be like and when it is different, they don't like it.
