OK so I just finished ordering the last of my components today. Everthing has arrived except the cpu and HD which I ordered today. I think I did a pretty good job on getting alot of bang for my buck but I'm curios what other people think. I'm not a hardcore 3d gamer but I hope to get some dx9 eyecandy from this thing. Any comments are much appreciated.

If you get the mobo/cpu combo at monarch I think they throw in 2 free games. Also I think you can get Corsair Value Ram for 20 bucks cheaper. Build looks solid. I'm about to build something very similar. The price/performance of the Raptor isnt that great, so I'd only get it if you need it. You can save yourself like 50 bucks if you get a 200GB sata seagate.

Ye I was originally gonna get the corsair but the memory I listed was listed on the dfi website as recommended and it was on sale. It also came with heat spreaders, which, if nothing else look pretty. I thought about going with a 7200 rpm sata drive especially with all the sales this week but decided I'd regret it if I didn't go for the raptor. Hard drives are generally the slowest componant and in my experience a faster hard drive is the biigest speed boost a computer can get. Thanks for the comment.

Is that psu gonna be enough? I had my system running off of a 550w Antec Tru and it wasn't running stable so I had to buy another one and I am running duals. Might be the ultra power hoging the whole system but that still seems low to me?

EDIT: I have the same thoughts as necine on the raptor but it's your money. Good luck with that!

A good quality 380w PS will be plenty for his system.

Antec is suppose to be good quality and it didn't stand up to what I threw at it, especially a 550w which you would think could handle anything.

i personally would have gone with a regular 7200 hard drive, along with a 3000 over the 3200. with the money saved i would have gotten a 6800 non ultra card. better gaming performance overall

You guys are bringing up all of the issue I dealt with choosing these componants. I was a little concerned about the antec 380 originally wanted a 400 as thats what DFI recommended but the Antec was such a good deal and is a quality psu. My last struggle was with the hd and cpu. I mentioned above how I decided about the HD. As far as the cpu is concerned I was set to buy the 3000 for about 50 dollars less but it was my wife's birthday present to me and she told me to go ahead with the 3200 :). As far as the 6800 I understand the 6600 has comperable performance at a lower price. At least from the reviews i read. Thanks much all and keep em coming.

400w is what DFI recommends? I seriously think you are going to be under powered with that 380w good quaility or not. Especially with that raptor and the 6600. I don't know about the 6600, but my 6800 ultra requires a MIN of a 480w psu. I had everything running on that one 550w and it was running like crap, wasn't stable, so I threw in the other 550w and connected it only to the ultra. I did notice a great improvement after giving it a dedicated psu, even if some of you don't think so, I did see a great improvement and that was from turning the computer off, plugging in the new psu and turning it back on.

Check your 6600 and see what the min wattage is and make sure it get's atleast that much. If you'd regret not going the extra speed in a hard drive then you'll regret not giving your system enough power.

uh oh....here come the flames?

i would think you had a dud to because i am running a 2.8c(oc just a little to 3.12, i would go higher but board has no voltage adjustments)/1GB/1x10k rpm u320scsi/2x7200rpm pata drives/9800pro/2xoptical drive/scsi card/lan card/5x80mm case fans/1x92mm cpu fan without a hitch on a antec 350W unit

I got the exact setup, except with Corsair Value Ram and Leadtek 6600GT. I got a Seasonic 400W PSU and I am not concerned at all about being underpowered. You just gotta run the numbers. You should be AOK. Nice system.

Whoa, but how could it be a dud? I mean, I'd think if it was a dud it wouldn't work at all. In the BIOS i was getting the right voltages as far as the 12v rails etc but they were all over the place, and once I plugged the second 550w in they evened out. I don't get it, but the place I bought the pus's from (locally) won't take them back now that I have had them for x amount of time. Unless antec will take the one that I started with back and exchange it, but I don't know if I want to get into all that again...

To the original poster: Sorry if I kinda went off topic here and thread crapped, just throwing out my 2 cents worth (probably not worth even that much) I hope your system rocks the way you want it too!

Thx, I almost went for the corsair and the leadtek: The ram I explained above and the Leadtek was oos when I found the deal on the xfx.
Thx for all the great comments guys. Calling it a night.
