Used xecuter 2.3b lite.
used xecuter bios (latest)
slayer's evox auto install

This is a royal PITA to do the first time. I am lucky beyond lucky to have a dvd burner to use.
Also, apparently my new 60gb hdd cannot be locked? Which means the default MS dashboard refuses to load, which means i cannot play on xbox live. Sucks.

You can do dual HDDs and if you have the chip with the switch, then you can play XBOX live.

I was afraid you pulled a Chiboy.

so far so good... again it sucks that I can't lock the hdd. I dunno if it's a hdd incompatibility or what.

Also, I'm curious as to how the emulators work. Iunno.. I just need to play with it more

I certainly understand how these people that charge $60 to mod your xbox make their money. It sure as hell isn't easy. Even knowing exactly what to do; it's still a pain.

I bought a modchip and a HD for mine but I still have not gotten around to modding it. Too many other projects around the house to do first. :(

I have a xecuter 2.3b lite +
w/ AvaLaunch and a 120GB hard drive mod.

Haven't locked my drive yet, maybe I should. Don't plan on playing live though.

Mine was a bit of a headache also but, it was well worth it.

Emulators are awesome, I was playing metal slug earlier today. I'm thinking of buying a arcade stick just for the emulators.

I like using Xbox Media Center to watch all my movies. :)

One of the problems imo is all the different how-to's for modding it. They all cover like one or two steps in detail, then generalize the rest. The best suggestions yet are using the d0 spot on the BACK of the mobo (requires removing the mobo, but it's like 7 screws) which is MUCH larger and MUCH easier than the one on the front,
AND
using slayer's auto installing evox with all the progs.

What's the easiest way to get Slayers evox auto install btw? I was trying to get it off of an FTP site through IRC but I kept having trouble trying to get to the FTP site.

Sheesh. It took me longer to open up the 'box to get the to mainboard then it did for me to actually install the mod. The people that really make their money are the ones that mod PS2's. Man, those are a royal pain.

I dunno man.. The hardest part by far was finding the software and educating myself on all the different bios's, dashboards, and whatnot before actually modding it. Being that I'm very proficient in soldering; the d0 wasn't *too* bad, but I wouldn't try it if I wasn't capable of soldering.

Also, having a DVD burner absolutely ROCKED. I have a v1.0 xbox, but it doesn't matter because I can burn DVD's. (The problem w/ the 1.0 is that when you upgrading all the software, it doesn't like cd-r's at all. It won't read most anything except select cd-rw media that is different for every 1.0 drive) I read stories on xbox-scene where people spent >$60 trying to find media that worked for their drive..

I'd certainly install a mod chip for someone for a price if they were interested.. PM me if you are

Everything you needed to know to install a mod chip or anything else on your xbox could be found in 5 minutes on www.xbox-scene.com or, just doing a google search. Glad you got it done. The best part about using a mod chip imho is not the games, but the ability to run xbox media center. I stream movies that I have downloaded from bittorrent to my pc across the network to my xbox and watch it on the bigscreen.

Agreed. Watching porn in bed is much better than watching it in your computer chair.

Man, I can't wait to get around to modding mine. I still dont' even know what chip to buy

But more than anything, I can't wait to play old games, and have the entire Xbox Media Center up and running. It'll take some time, and a lot of reading.

Why not just bring it in to someone to mod for you? It costs about $100 to mod, plus the cost of the HD....
