Just wanted to let everyone know that I've smashed my old record. Just finished 34 straight hours of work

What a way to spend a Friday night! I got in to work at 8:00 AM Thursday morning and I'm still going strong. I've still got about 4 hours of work left to do and then I can go home. That's what happens when your CEO says "Your project is the companies #1 priority. I want it done yesterday."

Maybe I should just go for an even 48 hours.

Well, if he wanted it yesterday, then why are you still there? You failed you and your company, go do the sensible thing and kill yourself. :)

why the hell would you work that many hours?

you must be on a salary, and it looks like your boss has you by the balls

I would have asked for some help from some co-workers, but that's just me. you'll kill yourself quickly if you keep those kind of hours up.

I'm on salary. I generally work normal hours, but every once in a while....

Over the course of 40 hours, I work better with two 8-hour sleep sessions in there.. In fact, I'd probby get more work done in the 24 hours available with sleep than if I worked 40 hours straight.

None. I only told 2 people I didn't go home last night. Nobody knows I'm still here working now. It was my choice to stay.

I am getting a TON of work done though. I could just checkpoint my project and write it off as good enough for now, but that would come back and bite me in the ass later.

The good thing is that everyone seemed very impressed and reviews/raises are right around the corner.
So... Was it worth it?

I did end up getting ~20% raise last year.

Just finishing up the last bit of tests on my project becfore I check it in and release it to everyone.

Going on 42 hours now. ;)

Sometimes when you have the momentum going, you'll just want to keep working. Good luck!
