when I hit send for efile i had the movie Deliverence flash through my head...

I normally wind up owing a few hundred dollars which makes me much smarter than all the people who are geting money back.

You realize that you loaned that money interest free to the government. You should adjust your withholding.

Not necessarily. Depending on what amount of that was tax credits and things such as capital loss write-offs (or carry forwards from previous crappy market years), his income withholdings may have been appropriate.

My witholding is fine. Don't presume to know things that you know nothing about. My refund would have been about $180. before I got credits for child care and the money we spent on college. There is no way I could accurately predict either one of those so my witholding stays as is.

Just dropped off the tax prep book with my accountant, return should be rdy in 2 weeks. Should get $2500-3000 back. I do need to adjust withholding, but sadly the 0% loan to the government is the best damn investment I had all year :(

Nope, we have everything except for our 1099 interest statements from ING Direct which should be here by 2/14.

I e-filed my federal and CA returns today. Found out that IRS rejected my submission, so I have to mail in my return. :|
