Just figured out why the CS M4 models look weird to me...

I just started playing counter strike (a little late to the game, i know), and i couldnt figure out why holding the M4 kept bothering me. Something about the way it looked.

Then it finally dawned on me that when i fire an M16, the brass ejects AWAY from me, meaning that the M4 model is backwards.

I'm guessing it was originally designed to be a left hand model and they merely swapped it when going to right hand, right? Normally my right hand finger rests near the magazine release and it obviously cant do that if it's on the other side of the weapon. One thing that still annoys me is that the fire mode selector is still on the wrong side. It's on the same side as the ejection port, which doesn't make sense.

IIRC, in the early betas (I started playing around Beta 4), they were all left handed, and right hand was later an option.

Correct which is why you see alot of old timers playing with left handed models

yeah i think i read that somewhere. I'd like to know why they threw everything into one side though. They might as well throw the forward assist on the left side while they're at it.

but that would take effort....

they are content with CS the way it is. There are MANY flaws with the game and the programmers know this. The model design is ancient etcetc.
Hopfully for CS : source they'll revamp some stuff around and hopefully improve the game greatly

When you alt-tabbed outa cs until about a year ago, you would lose sound. It took 5 years to fix that bug it'll take sometime for them to be motivated to make the game 'more realistic'
Just enjoy the game as much as you can as it is i suppose
