Just fed 2 brush tail possums some fruit pieces

In my experience, young possums are friendly & curious. When they get older they seem to get a little nasty. Baby possums are very funny.

Oh shut up. You just can't grasp the fact that there doesn't HAVE to be a rift between wild animals and humans. A possum attacking a stupid little girl in Australia is probably like a bunny suddenly attacking you in the states.
 
Yeah, judging from the pic, this Australian possum is far less wild than the American variety. The ones in America are straight up scary, they look like some sh!t from pet cemetary.
 
When I was travelling in Australia, we had to beat brush-tailed possums off of our van and our tent when they got too aggressive looking for food. One started rummaging through my pack looking for chow, and I punted another off of the camping platform we were on because he wouldn't leave us alone. I have some great pics of the cute little ah heck though, but they are at home.

Ya, possums are pests. You should shoot them if you brought a rifle, otherwise hit them over the head.

Not saying I would kill it, but I would definitely not feed a brushtail. Didn't the Australian government sanction turning them into pet food? I am fairly certain they did, as I have purchased "New Zealand Brushtail" pet food from Addiction.
 
I know you think they're cute, but you should probably leave them alone. It can become a problem when wild animals get too comfortable with humans.

Just observe from a distance and leave mother nature to herself.
 
From what the OP is saying, these possums sound like they're the equivalent of our bushy tailed squirrels here in the U.S. (although they might have squirrels over there too). People feed squirrels all the time.
 
try giving them some peanut butter, I bet they like it as all the rodents I've fed it to have eaten it up rather quick.
 
although i have to commend you on your doctor doolittle like endeavers..they still look like giant rats..

if you do continue with this experiment why dont you teach them to do your bidding...somethign useful like say get a beer out the fridge and pop it open for you..mop and sweep..maybe do the dishes..

think about mind control and the whole taking over the world thing, start small though ..terrorize and take control of your neighborhood..but remember above all else never tell the james bond guy your evil plan in detail when you have him on your kooky killing contraption
