I swear... I want to find the guys responsible for this system, line them all up in a nice, neat row and kick each and every one of them sqare in the balls.

Even with a tax program it's still a nightmare. My tax return was 23 pages long. It's not like I own an business. I don't have any employees. I get a W-2 and a couple of 1099's. I own a house. Nothing special. But the way the system is rigged up... gah. WTF knows if it's even right? Turbo Tax says I'm fine.

It shouldn't have to be like this! I'm going to go have a beer and curse the darkness.

I mailed mine on April 17th last year  (I think that was the deadline, right? The 15 was a Saturday IIRC)

Same here and I only made 40k last year. Owing $500 doesn't feel good.

I'm just taking mine to my CPA this year. She used to be my accounting professor in college so I know she won't screw me over. Plus she's hot.

Normally I do my own taxes, but I bought a house last year and don't know WTF to do about that.

Yeah, but think of all the "extra" money you had throughout the year instead of loaning it interest free to the government.

yes, but i would much rather have the "yay, I'm getting something back" mentality. It's not like I get 2-3K back. It's has been usually in the arena of $3-700. I know the logic behind it is stupid, but I still just like getting money instead of paying it :p

Ah, don't pay it, what's the worse that could happen? ;)

I've been using a CPA for mine the last x years. I figure what I'd pay for Turbo Tax and things I'd miss simply because I don't know all the ins and outs of the system (even with the software) it's worth it (for me).

I don't see why everyone complains about this so much.

I got my taxes done using FreeTaxUSA.com in about 20min.

I had 3 1099 forms and a W-2, college interest and I bought a house.

I already got my state return back (7 calendar days later)
I expect my federal return back in the next few days.

You'd think you guys would have figured it out this late in life.

I lived in two different states this year. That makes it a double PITA. I was in the same situation last year. You have to split out all of your incomes based on where you were at the time you resided there and make sure that each state gets the proper amounts.

Uhg.

Figure that the average age here is about 24. Most people at this age are just getting into the complications of buying a house, running a business, etc.

Do you claim the "bonuses" for roughing up the rowdy college kids that get too grabby with the girls?
