If you have two computers connected by a crossover cable. And file sharing and internet sharing seems to work with no problems at 100mbits. How much of a speed difference is a 100 mbit switch.

A lot of people say they have had problems with crossover cables but for me it seems to work just fine.

It would depend on net traffic. If you're running small network, this won't make any difference

if your using a crossover cable to directly connect two pc's with 100mbps nic's then it should be faster than using a 100mbps switch, because the switch is layer two and forwards based on mac address. so there's some overhead, althought not too much.

maybe 1%-5%
