Just curious

I am 24 yrs old and I really want to go to school for something like network security or anything along those lines. I have ADD and computers can keep my attention! I was just curious as to what kind of degrees you guys have if any. I was looking at ITT-Tech, does anyone know how credible they are in the business world? Or if they are a good school to go to. What would you guys suggest.

Damn! I didn't know that it cost $50g's for a 2 year degree. That is crazy, if I could afford that I wouldn't have to go to school in the first place.

silverdj, a EE or CS degree would be the best. MIS or the new "information security"/"computer security" degrees would be second best. Trade schools would be interesting only if really cheap.

Stick with a real college. Ideally, you go to a real, reputable university. If that's out of your budget or ability to get into (at 24, you may find it hard to get back into school, big universities are definitely geared towards applications from HS seniors), then look at your local community college. Many states have decent and cheap community college systems and some arrangements whereby you can take classes at the community colleges and transfer up to the state university later. That's a good way for folks who have been out of school for a while to get back on the college track. There is also typically a way to get a two year degree in your pocket first and then work on the four year degree.

Graduate degree trumps four year degree trumps two year degree trumps trade school trumps certs. Try to set your goals as high up that chain as you reasonably can.
