Fell to 24 overnight and will be colder for the next 2-3 nights. Might not get above 40 until Wednesday.

Thing is, we sometimes only get one of these around this time of year and the remainder of the Winter is usually somewhat warmer overall.

Sometimes. Sometimes we get another blast late February to early March.

60s and 70s are quite possible in December and January.

Weirdly warm over here! I mean it's a bit chilly and definitely not teeshirt weather but 11°C and hardly any frosts is not normal for this time of year!

I’m camping in front of the fireplace, watching sports, and drinking all day.

Thankful to NOT live in the Ohio, Penna, NY regions that are “blessed” with lake effect snow. I saw a news report that some parts of that region have been blessed with nearly 4 feet of snow…with more to come.

weather warning from Environment Canada:

Weather Alerts for: London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County

Warnings

9:02 AM EST Monday 2 December 2024
Snow Squall Warning in effect for:
  • London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County
Intense snow squalls continuing through Tuesday morning.

Hazards:
Additional local snowfall accumulations near 60 cm. Peak snowfall rates of 5 to 10 cm per hour. Very poor to zero visibility at times in heavy snow. Power outages possible due to the heavy wet nature of the snow.

Timing:
Ending Tuesday morning.

Discussion:
A northwesterly flow off Lake Huron will continue to produce intense snow squalls into Tuesday morning. As is common with snow squalls, snowfall amounts will be highly variable.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Road closures are likely.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to getprepared.gc.ca.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

I hope we don't get 60cm (24 in) of snow today.

Sunny for several days. Temps fluctuating daily between 50s and 30s in East Texas.

First frosts of the season several days ago. My flowering hibiscuses are safely stashed in the garage - they're like, 9 ft tall. Sucks they'd start to flower for the first time just before frost. They are dark maroon.

its been a snowy day here in Ontario. We have received about 10 inches of snow today.

Areas north of me ended up with over a meter of snow. I am glad that didn't happen here. 35,000 people have no power and Ontario Hydro is working as fast as possible to restore power.

pic of Highway 11 closed due to snow squalls - 100km of road closed:

Gravenhurst area has been pounded pretty hard about a day ago. Over 100cm of snow in some places. Lot of hydro outages too. Linemen will be busy for next little while...

73Fuck your winter here. Sunny with a light breeze. The breeze knocked the last of the soapberry leaves off the trees. soapberries are the original Christmas ornaments.
