It was 65F or possibly even close to 70F here in NE. That's pretty crazy-warm in Jan., here, but not entirely Un-precidented.

Does anybody notice that seasons seem to be shifting, with warmer weather later into October and November and colder weather later into March and early April?

Depending on which weather service you believe, either we're heading into the low-20's with up to 8" of snow...or the low-30's with 1-4" of snow.

With my luck, we'll get 2 feet.

Yep. Climate change.

I find our winters start much later now, and our winters are very sporadic with lot of heat waves, some years where the roads never really get a good snow pack since it keeps melting. Before, it was -30's and colder pretty much all of January. Now, we sometimes even get RAIN in middle of January. Heck, about a month ago it was like -17... and raining. How is that even possible? Our Februaries are more what January used to be and then we get most of our snow between March-May. I've seen a foot+ fall in May. Back when I was a kid, summer started in May and it was often warm enough for shorts and tshirt. Now we tend to still be in winter in May with still lot of snow on the ground. In general though it's just all over the place, a few years ago almost all our snow melted in like March, but then we got a 2nd winter that lasted till June.

Freezing rain sucks. One of the things I never accounted for when I put up solar panels. Once you get freezing rain, you're done producing any power for the year. Any snow that happens after just sticks to it and it creates a crust that won't come off. I think if there was freezing rain and then it stopped completely and then got colder it would not be so bad as it would just create a layer of transparent ice, but what usually happens is it cools off while it's still raining so it turns to snow but the snow sticks.

Good thing it was just a small 400w system as a test. I know now it's not really worthwhile to do the whole house. At least not on this property. With more room I could just do a vertical ground mount system then it would not be so bad.

In the 70s yesterday, now back down to the 20s/30s and we even had a brief period of light snow earlier this morning.

Yeah, the seasons are certainly shifting. Summer now extends into late September/early October, while winter seems to be sporadic through March/April.

This weekend was 60's and 60MPH winds, so couldn't even go out and enjoy it. Knocked over one of my dead poplars at least, saved me the trouble.

Same here in WV but our highs will be around 60 and lows at or above freezing. That will give us at least a week with no rain or snow. Lately we usually have about a week of nice weather the first or 2nd week of Jan. and then winter really kicks in afterwards.
This recent pattern continues where I live. It was 71F on Saturday and it dropped to 53F during the day on Sunday. You couldn't ask for better January weather to load a Uhaul for my sister. Temps will drop dramatically starting Thur.

It's right around 30, a skiff to 4" of snow on top of the ice. Typical Seattle snowmageddon day!

So far, we have so much snow...you can actually see it in the lawn! Makes the grass look funny. Even the top of my gas grill looks...whitish...oh the horror of it all! Tomorrow is supposed to be a bit snowier.

Took this just now, a lazy shot from inside the house. 30 sec exposure since it's dark.

Took these the other day while out for a walk:

Best part of winter is the nice scenery.
