Yesterday, sunshine and mid-60s, kind of the same today...but less sunny...until about 5 pm when a thunderstorm rolled up the coast. Now, still in the 50s, light rain but no electricity in the region.

Winter storm has started.

Snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour.
Risk of freezing rain.

I'm scheduled to work from home all week so I get to dodge this one too, I'm kinda getting lucky with the timing of these storms this year.

The south is getting hit hard with power outages.

Each of those numbers represents one outage, so the circles with 50 means there's 50 outages.

Nothing crazy in my area, it's snowing fairly steady but no wind or anything like that.

Storm is over, got the driveway done on my lunch hour. Starting to have to throttle down the snow blower and shoot straight up to be able to get it in the yard since it's so high now.

That's a drywall T square so 4' high, snow is probably closer to 6' at this point at it's peak.

a storm is moving through here. It is snowing/hailing here with about 2 cm of crap. Should be turning to rain in a couple hours or so. Flood warnings are out in our area.

-1C with a windchill of -12C

You need to open an AI data center in your backyard operational during winter only. Then let nature take care of the cooling needs.

Building a DC would be fun, the trick is finding an ISP willing to supply with the connectivity that it would require. I actually have more redundancy in my home server room than I have with my leased server for my web facing stuff. Would be fun to host that stuff at home. I would eventually buy a /24 IP block and start hosting VPSes, then grow from there and eventually build a proper DC. Then could do more serious AI stuff and colocates and stuff like that. We don't really have any DCs here that do colocation so it would fill in a big gap.

Cooling would basically be free year round. Even in summer, we get enough sun that the HVAC system could run off solar. Maybe not the whole DC but the HVAC system at least.

Another tornado outbreak happening now. Things are starting to get interesting. There is also going to be flooding today. It's been windy here all day and the storms are still a long ways off.

Big tornado on the ground in MO. If live in or around west TN you need to pay attention.

Bah! Second time this week we've been under a tornado watch!

Middle daughter and her whole fam are hunkered down with us here. Oldest kid went with a coworker to their house it has a basement after work tonight.

Tornado sirens just let off! Tornado Alert just came over all of our phones at once! That was pretty annoying…
