Air warms up here; still can't be nice. Damn winds. :colbert:

We have maybe one or two days a year here that there is little to no wind. That's what happens when your town sits on land that juts out into Lake Michigan five miles.

From Accuweather:

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 9 inches possible.

* WHERE...Central Coast and Lower Chehalis Valley Area.

* WHEN...From Saturday evening through Monday morning.* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest snowfall amounts will be away from the water, especially along the southwest slopes of the Olympics. Snow may mix in with rain at times, primarily along the water on Sunday. The potential for refreezing exists Monday morning.

Yuck. I HATE snow. To make it worse, by the end of next week, temps are supposed to dip into the low 20s. :brr:

With the exception of a few very cold days its been very warm this winter. Just had to order propane for the first time since fall fill ups. Hopefully stays the same way and can make it thru on 2 tanks.

Do you use a wood stove?
I switched over to in floor heat plus hot water radiators run off of a dual purpose lp boiler. I have the wood burner still in the basement though. Only really fire up the wood burner when its super cold as the basement is leaky and the cold basement makes the boiler have to fight harder to heat the floors. Got tired of the constant cycle of cutting, splitting and chimney cleaning.

January here in NJ was so much colder than I was expecting. We had a couple of weeks where average temps were in the teens and twenties. It was enough to have me celebrating days in the low 40s. It may not sound like a huge diff but anything below freezing is sooo draining. Go outside? What drugs are YOU on?

Temps warmed up and we had rain on Friday. The warm temps and rain melted all our snow in the mountains. WV has some major flooding going on. The River near me is in the road.

ROFL...I'm the same way. I ask the dog..."Are you SURE you have to go out? Really? You just peed a couple of hours ago." (then I man up and take him out because, as big as he is...he's still just a puppy.)

I found an office chair I think I want to buy...great price, pics look good...but it's in the metro Portland area. 175 miles each way. (in my truck, about $75 in gas)..but we're about to get the first winter storm of the season. No snow here yet, but it's on the way. When I took the dog out to pee a bit ago, the back deck was covered with a thin rime of ice...I imagine the roadways are the same. I'm fckn old...I am NOT driving to Portland and back on shitty, icy road, just to get a chair.

@BoomerD - unless you have studded snow tires and don't mind driving at have speed, I guess it's ok but I see your point. I wouldn't bother.

One of the benefits of living in the NYC-Philly corridor is that there are plenty of office supply stores. There's even used office equipment which tends to be a VERY good deal. If you have something like that closer to you, even if you can't browse their stock, it's well worth a casual drive.

I have a beautiful, double-walled Steelcase desk that I love and got used. I think I got the office chair at Costco. Kinda a POS but it works well enough.

I dislike studded tires. They're usually good for one season, maybe 2, then the studs get worn and flattened by driving on bare pavement.
Unfortunately, Seattle is really the closest commercial office furniture, new or used...and that's 130-150 miles too.
As mych as I WANT to replace my chair...Idon't HAVE to do it immediately.

I don't know what you have now, but if it's just a stiff wooden chair, like for a dining table, a butt pad and back rest might make it more comfortable.

For my couch, I have a butt pad with little plastic nubs on the surface. It's very comfortable.

Understandable if you are wanting to test drive the goods first. You could find one online/shipped of course, but who knows how it'll "fit" unless you know the chair model already.

Two years ago I replaced my older desk chair, and ended up returning the first one I ordered from Amazon. Then I got one of the same brand that I was replacing, slightly different model. It's been great. (WorkPro Quantum 9000, replaced the Quantum 12000).

Can be a hassle though if you have to assemble it, find out you don't care for it, disassemble it again, and box it back up to return. Like the first pile of shit I bought.

Had to make a mad dash into Aberdeen this afternoon. Stopped at the only Mexican restaurant worth eating at...

Fortunately, it stopped snowing and warmed up just a bit shortly after I took that pic. No snow on the roads going home.

A 6 year old version of one of these:

Considered a butt pad...but it's falling apart. One of the sockets for the wheels broke the other day. (I have the "rollerblade wheels" installed. Dumped me on my fat ass. I have it temporarily patched with hot glue...but it ain't gonna last.

Exactly the problem. Amazon is great for returns...but it can be a real PITA with something like a chair. Once the shitty weather leaves the area, I have a few Steelcase Leap V2 chairs to look at, a couple of Steelcase Amias, and a couple of Steelcase Gestures. Maybe even a couple of Aeron Remastered chairs and some different Haworth models as well. Zody in particular. I don't know how many damned Staples/Office Depot/Costco office chairs I've been through in the past 30 years...a dozen maybe...

I'm seriously considering one of the Leap V2 or "Lamia" refurbished chairs from BTOD, (lamia is a Leap V2 frame with an Amia seat) plus a couple different refurbs from Crandall. They seem to be the refurbishers with the best reputations. They provide 12 year warranties with their refurbs. Not bad. (providing they're still around in 12 years..or me) :D
