Just curious...best P4 speed(O/C is fine) I could use in Asus P4B533-E

been a year since I put system together, just wondering how much of a speed bump I could get in 6 months to a year if I keep current MB and ram.

haven't been following how O/Cs are going on different chips or anything, and not sure how high MB supports....I would think it would be any of the 533 bus chips?

Anyway, as listed I have Asus P4B533-E and Corsair XMS3200cas2, both a year old...and a 2.53ghz which doesn't seem too happy with O/Cing.

Just wanted to check options, and maybe find out what chip was best and get it when it was cheap and before going out of stock.

thanks

Quick tip on your board. If you want to use the 3:4 ratio on it above 132 mhz you will have to flip DSW1 switch #6 on and leave all the rest off. I'd say don't bother with getting another chip right now as a 2.53 is pretty find for anything right now. Just wait a while and change both the mobo and processor.

You could check this out null
If I where you I would wait for awhile and get the next big thing to come out next year. Your system should be good for now.

Ya that was first thing i did when I got it a year ago. Thanks

I have a P4B533e & a P4B533 both have Kingston HyperX 512mb pc3500 .
Each has a 3.06Ghz (533) oc'd to 3.34Ghz at 1:1.

Both systems are all scsi & are very fast.

If you want to upgrade the 3.06 gives you HyperThreading also & you don't have to change your mobo.

Regards,
Jose
