My timing must suck, that was the first thing I tried to do (shoot the canisters and grapple) but they always either:
a. took off before I connected
b. the grapple missed lol

Can you shoot while holding the grapple on something? That might be the easiest way of doing it. (Hold LB instead of just hitting it.)

Aim for the very very top of the canister. Keep trying it until you latch on to it and stay hooked on to it. Once that happens just shoot at it once and you will be off! 🙂

The voice acting is awful. I really like the gameplay but I don't know if I could deal with a full game with this poor of voice acting.

You would be missing the point of this game if you put that much stock into the quality of the voice acting, or even the story. Are you really expecting it to be even passability good? Its awful, and that's just fine by me. This game doesnt need any of that to be valid. In GTA, sure, it was great because it was such a story driven and grounded video game, but JC2 basically dumps us in a channel of islands with a parachute, a gapple hook and some guns and says 'have at it kid'.

That's it.

This game is--at its heart--a game. It's a hand full of a Jacks. A baseball, a bat and a glove. It's a set of Legos to make with it what you will. I havent even played the full game and I can tell you that it's not a video game with a narrative that's going to be compelling in any way. I honestly couldnt care less about why I'm there, or who needs liberated from some evil dictator.

I just want to grapple onto airplanes, hijack it, fly up to the highest point the game will allow, jump out, free fall at 90MPH until the last 100 feet, pull out my guns and blow a bunch of shit up underneath me while I rack up chaos points wearing my cheesy-ass leathers and slicked back hair.

That's all I expect out of this game.

while i see what you are saying warcrow, a lot of people get bored of that stuff quickly, and that is when they want to follow a story and direction.

i know personally i got tired of sandbox games back on PS2 after the 3rd iteration of GTA3.

the only sandbox i've REALLY liked since then is Crackdown, and it had a lot to do w/the overall gameplay and verticalness of the game. my favorite part of that game was orb hunting. without it, i would not have enjoyed that game so much.

if just cause 2 has some type of 'orb hunting' i think i may enjoy it more though.

granted it is still a pretty fun game, but the controls really turned me off of it. granted, i was playing on my laggy ass DLP tv when i played the demo and will try it again this weekend on my lagless LCD.

That's fine, and that's what I would expect. If they wanted to do that then bother putting voices in at all? Crackdown didn't have cutscenes to bring down the overall game. They shouldn't put anything in that they didn't put enough time and thought in.

I just finished Crackdown (again) lsat night--it has cutscenes before and after every single boss. They're skipable, but they're there.

My point is, this stuff isnt really relevant.

Does the parachute, airplanes/helis count towards the verticality of the game? Who knows, perhaps we'll get a jetpack too. 😉

This game isnt Crakcdown but I feel it's very much in the same spirit. Did any of you REALLY care about the narrative in Crackdown? I know I sure as heck didnt.

As far as 'orb' hunting, I think there are ammo packs, armor upgrades and such that you have to hunt down.

I know. It doesn't detract from the gameplay, but it doesn't exactly set a good tone since that's the first thing you hear =/

From the demo I still plan on using some gc's to get it so it doesn't really matter. It just seems weird that they'd put time into something that obviously doesn't matter when it does nothing to help what the game is shooting for.

Is it just me or do all the vehicles have the same top speed? I may pick it up, it looks like a fun game where you can do anything you want to let off some steam without worrying about a story getting in the way.

I do like the game a lot, though I was at 82% on the town mission (blowing things up right below training mission part) and had no idea what the hell was left to blow up.

I was in that town earlier, and was at 92% and couldn't find anything else. I wasted almost my whole demo time trying to find the last thing or 2, but couldn't.

hmm. I have this all paid up at GS but thinking of cancelling my preorder. Just couldnt get into the game.

If you're not into it, I'd cancel it. I don't think it is for everyone, and even I myself, a HUGE fan of open world titles, can see some niggles that annoy me and some that would be potentially harmful to other people. Pick it up when it's $20 or so, or buy it on Amazon right now with the $15 videogame voucher and sell it off if you don't like it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the ever respawning enemies. On one hand they're really fucking annoying and it's hard to get anywhere when you're constantly being hounded, but if they weren't there it'd be too easy.

But once we get more weapons and get the game down pat too, it will be more fun because we have more ways to kill them. I wish you could string lots of enemies together and then tie them to a car, and I really wish that they would stay there longer.

I just beat a second place too, and it was cool. I do like the game, but again, not willing to pay $60 for it I don't think (at this point). I like how there is residential areas though, and the game itself will take forever to fully explore.

I haven't decided yet if I should get this for the pc or 360. I've been looking for a long time for a new 360 game. Some things seem like they would be better with a controller, but I also see a lot of people complaining about driving/flying controls on the xbox when I'm not having any problems with the keyboard. I'm also pretty bad at shooting games with a controller.

Co-op would be really fun though, too bad.

That Bolo chick looks exactly like a fucking Chucky doll.
And I'm tired of hearing her say her damn name.

With regards to completion percentages, not only do you have to blow stuff up, but you have to collect parts...

Also, didn't find it until recently, but there's a grenade launcher in the demo. Look in the big old tower in the next town over from where you start.

Yeah, I found the grenade launcher like my first play through. 😉 Though, I don't like it at all.

There's only one niggle for me, and that is that some of the places seem pretty bland with people or cars or buildings....hopefully it isn't like this in the real game.
