So all those people thinking physics and graphics are 2 seperates issues, with no connection at all or that GPGPU has nothing to do with gaming...sorry, you where wrong:

And before the red chorus of "WAAAAAHMbulances arrives....ask AMD to make the same OpenCL or DirectCompute...oh wait :eek:

This game is DX10.1...No Direct Comupte 4..or maximum OpenCL...only CUDA gives the tools for the job...unless you want to make the game DX11...and no GPGPU for all DX10.1 and DX10 cards...of any brand.

AMD - We are still waiting for you to do anything...besides talk. :hmm:

And this once again hows how important the TWIMTPB program is...AMD needs to learn or the decription of a AMD GPU owner will be:
Whining over features not running on his AMD GPU...

And wecome to GPGPU in games...The CUDA effect are listed in GREEN in the list.

There is more flamebait in this thread that I've seen in a long time.

What exactly are you trying to prove here?

That not al games are simple ports.
Some developers actually uses the extra power of the PC.
And AMD is dragging it's feet in GPGPU...since 2006.

And GPGPU and gaming will be more linked in the future.

I have to see a side by side comparison between an nVidia card and an AMD card running that game to say whether it makes a huge difference in the way the water looks.

One thing I will say is that the water looks great and if that can be done only using a nVidia card, then kudos to them for achieving such a feat.

It's in the video...On = NVIDIA water OFF = AMD water.

It's nice to see Nvidia do something with Cuda btw, but the way you try to convey this is almost hilarious.

When AIT(now AMD) has been promising GPGPU since 2006...and delivered a big nothing, sure I take sides.

You are forgetting the nasty DX10.x limitations...big no-no....this is not a DX11 game.

You forget one important fact.
Under DX10/DX10.1 ...CUDA is in a leauge of it's own.
For OpenCL/DirectCompute you need DX11 hardware to match the level of this CUDA...effectively making this type of effect either limited to DX11 for AMD...and "limited" to DX11/DX10.1/DX10 for NVIDIA.

But keep beliving in OpenCL/DirectCompute...it is just confirming what I said:
The leuage of whiners has arrived...empty handed ;)

Impressive effects. Soon there will be many more similar and better effects done on DX11/OpenCL.

I would like to see ATI more involved with GPGPU. As consumers, none of use wants to see a monopoly take hold.

So DX11 ATI hardware can accomplish this? Why are we getting exciting about this then?

I think the OP's news would have been a whole lot better if this game was DX11, Full tessellation and GPGPU.

As it stands now this game is not exactly cutting edge from my viewpoint. Still it might be worth a look anyway. It sort of reminds me of the original Far Cry.

I am just tired of developers worrying about small details when we dont even get decent textures in games. 2010 effects dont mean much when some of the graphics are from 2003.

btw the gameplay is like a mixture of RF Guerrilla, GTA 4, and Mercenaries 2.

They are DX10/DX10.1 cards after all, their power is getting very limited these days. So they can add advanced effects to certain elements in the world (water?), but other areas have to be cut back. Otherwise you get a nice slideshow :)

well they should at least have the option for hi res textures. I mean there are places in the game that look horrific for a modern title.

seriously - there is only so much armchair applause you can do for spiffy water effects, when the rest of the game looks like a grue ate most of the textures.
