what the heck... I started this thread in the discussion club and someone moved it without reason...

Please mods, put it back where I had it as it was made for that section, or delete the thread entirely. I do not wish to 'partake' in ATOT.

I don't care what kind of music you listen to...just don't make me "enjoy it" with you.

I'm pretty sure that Pizza was dripping with grease, too!

Obligatory...

Ewww, who eats that pizza chain crap anyway. The only good pizza is from a local join like Moe's pizza, Pizza Pat's or Local Pizza. I can't believe anyone eats that cardboard crap from a pizza chain. You should be ashamed of yourself and never post here again.

OT thread derail is a communicable disease. Note how the one poster/carrier above infected the other. Now they're both OT zombies. D:

I PMed you about this. I'm working on it.

(A quick perusal at the typically thoughtless and inconsiderate responses since it was moved here kind of underscores your wisdom in not posting here in the first place.)

Thank you for moving it back!

I have not heard them since they shut it off on their own at 8pm yesterday, but they have done this before.

1) his boss didn't care
2) it's probably a bad idea to piss off people that bring you food

I said my neighborhood, not my house. With all the better pizza options out there, I'd never order that awful stuff!

I just didn't appreciate the gangster rap concert at the end of my driveway late at night. Especially when he's representing the business. The manager at the end of the phone knew who I was calling about before I even described the car.

Did he like, hang out at the end of hte driveway for a while?

Yup. Sat out there in his car after the delivery for a while, thump thumping away.

Dude, if I can hear it through your windows and mine, it's too f'ing loud!

Noise is only a form of aggression if it violates property rights. If it broke your windows or if you think you can prove to the courts that it caused you to lose hearing, then legal action such as calling the cops is justified.

If you merely find it annoying, then it is not justifiable to call the cops. If it is not causing you or someone else physical violation of person or property, then just put in earplugs or something like that.

That may be your opinion, but it's not one shared by, oh, 99% of the rest of the world.

Property rights include the right to peaceful enjoyment of property. You do not have the right to do things on your property that unduly negatively impact others' properties.

If I was your next-door neighbor and I set up a stereo system blasting 120 dB music at your bedroom 24/7, you'd change your views on this in a hurry.

yea, d-bag for sure. What irks me more is those same type of people who have kids in their car as well. and not to get too much off the topic, but people who smoke with kids in their cars and the windows up make me want to commit assault..

So I can park my car outside your house/apartment and blast loud music in its direction in the middle of the night?

Cool.

You can also dump your trash all over his lawn. That won't cause any damage.

And burn a few tires upwind from him as well. No problem! :D

Burning tires would probably make him happy, he's an anarchist after all, no?

But I digress.

I wouldn't change my view, but I would possibly not be able to remain non-aggressive.

Even if it came to that, what would be the point of playing music that loud be anyway? I'd might just be able to wait until the speakers were blown or until the amp overheated. It would be a waste of your money to replace it over and over again, no offense:)

it wouldn't cause any damage, but it would violate my parents' property rights.

I will edit my post on that.

I had an idiotic next door neighbor do something similar to this about a year ago.

I live in a quadruplex neighborhood, so my next door neighbor's living room is adjacent to my bathroom. For about two weeks they were listening to music quite loudly, that I could sing along with it. However, it was during the day usually so I just let it go. Then one night I get woken up at 2 AM to their music playing very loudly, louder than before. I was pissed because I had to be up for work at 6AM, so I walk out my front door around the corner to where their patio is and bang loudly on the screen door (they had the slider cracked open too). I told them that it's 2AM and I can very clearly hear that in my bedroom, they said sorry and I haven't heard a peep out of them since.

I'd walk over there first and ask them politely to turn it down, and if they have an attitude about it or fail to comply, then I'd call the cops.

I like to listen to my music, sometime I like to listen to my music LOUD. In the evening, sometime during the day. Now I live in a rural area on a cul de sac. We all own 2+ acres lots.

Nobody has ever complained about my music, ever.

On the other hand, sometime on Saturday morning one neighbour starts his chainsaw around 7AM and keeps it going most of the day. Annoying, yes but that's part of getting along with my neighbors.

2 years ago, the same neighbour installed a street light on a telephone pole. It shines directly in all our bedrooms windows, all night long. Annoying, yes but I got blinds, problem solved.

Then, there was this young adult who liked to fly up and down the street with his dirt bike with no muffler on it, the noise was unbelievable. I stopped him and asked him politely to slow down and fix his muffler. He did not like it but I have never seen him again on the street with that bike, this was 4 years ago.

So, no, we don't call the police on each others here, we try to get along.

I find it strange that in your entire neighborhood you would be the only one annoyed by this loud music considering they live one block away and that there are many people who live closer to them.

PS: did you manage to get the junk off your deck?

I wasn't the only one to call them. Turns out it's a common complaint and a friend of the police... says someone I talked to here the other day that has lived here longer than me.

The porch is still in the same situation, I am waiting until the first to get anything done since a second roommate (which I call crazy for reasons I won't go into) is moving out by then, and I will have much more space to move things to inside after that. I have also been rather sick the last few weeks.

Am I getting old and anal or something or is this actually reasonable...

It's 445 pm here, and since like 9 am someone a block or so away has been running music so loud that the bass has been reverberating inside my bedroom and head... from at least a block away! Don't get me wrong, I like good music with bass I even have my own system that could do such a thing but I never do it out of respect for my neighbors... but this just got to the point finally of me getting so sick of it and angry I just called the local police. I am honestly amazed nobody else has bothered calling them, it was that bad...

Am I getting to be an old biddy or something or am I actually being reasonable calling them for this instance?

Hi there, you are not getting old, what you hear is not music, it's just loud bass. The noise you hear is detrimental to your health. Any "old biddy" can tell you first hand that the bass affects the rhythm of their heart, and can actually make them sick. What it's actually doing to the one playing it remains to be seen, but I'm willing to bet they will regret it in the future, all kind of health problems will be on their plate.

That's because all his neighbors thought some other neighbor was going to call the cops or do something about it. Everyone looking at everyone else but doing nothing. It's a well-known phenomenon for those who studied psychology.
