and the guy told me give him my email address and became a conversation about how great gmail is and how I got it. I ended up giving him an invite to gmail,

but.. makes me worried about Amazon's future. 😛

lol.. Amazon.com seems to have about 10 real people working for it and about 2 million computers. It took me forever to find their support line when I needed it.

So their People / Computer ratio is higher than google? 😉

I had two similiar experiences

Called phone company, while we were establishing my account he asked "so what do you do"? Told him that I do banking, hot deals and web hosting. After about 10 minutes I had him register his domain and I offered him a free web hosting account. Now he has his own online health food store with osCommerce shopping cart 🙂

Back during the VA.com gravy train days I was speaking with a female CSR. She said these deals are crazy and our servers are getting hammered but I wish we also sold DVD's. I asked for her e-mail address and sent her details to the best DVD bargain sites on the net. 3 days later she e-mailed me back with a list of 20 DVD's she recently purchased. Her average price was under $6 including shipping/taxes. Mind you this was back in 2000, ages ago when Reel.com, BigStar.com, reined supreme.

I sincerely miss Bigstar, and the former non-amazonian Reel.
