Just Built New Comp, Shuts Off After Few Seconds then Reboots

Hi Anandtech,

Just built my first comp, essentially a clone of the mid-level rig sticky. I feel like I have everything together correctly, but cannot be certain. Computer boots, fan turns on, and then after about 3-5 seconds it shuts down. After a couple seconds, the computer turns on again and repeats. Where's the first place you look?

Hmm. Think my RAM was in the wrong slot.

I would ensure you used the standoffs that shouldve been included with your case. If you used standoffs, did you make sure you don't have an 'extra' one shorting somewhere?

Thank you so much for looking at this thread. Turns out I just moved the ram over 2 slots and we're great! I am now typing on my new computer and it's AMAZING!!!!!!

sounds like the board is bad, then. having ram in sub-optimal slots would result in using only 1 channel of the 2 available, it shouldn't cause a boot loop.

Agree. Whether or not it is worth it to the OP to track the problem down and do an RMA is a different question (one that we can't answer).
