I just built this system:
Athlon 64 2800+
Epox 8KDA3J
512MB PC-3200
Radeon 9000
Windows XP Pro
I'm new to windows xp and I have no idea how to get on the internet. (I'm using my old computer now). The Epox has a built in gigabit eithernet port. I plugged that in. Now what do I have to do to get connected?

You will need to install XP drivers for the built in ethernet port to work. I would suggest downloading the lastest nvidia drivers for your chipset here which "should" also have the lastest driver for your ethernet port.

how will you be connecting, what sorce will you use, cable modem, dial up,satelite.

HOW CAN WE HELP WITH SUCH POOR DATA AND DESCRIPTION ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

ok pop in the disc that came with the motherboard. Find the chipset drivers. install. Connect to Internet. I advise you update them after you are connected though.

Yeah, I got the drivers. But in windows xp, all I have to do is connect the cable and then i can just fire up the browser and start surfing? 😕

Instead of messing with the drivers from the disc, just download from the link in my first post.

Once you know XP is seeing the hardware and using it, you just need to plug the dsl modem in and then configure a login connection that is much like a dialup connection.

wow...such a noob qusetion...You can build a cmputer but not sure how to get on the internet? 0_o

Install all the drivers that came with your mobo...Plug it in and go to dial up networking and follow the windows wizard to setup a broadband connection. Not all that hard...

Make sure that you've got some sort of firewall going, at least, before you open your computer up to the whole world... This could be as simple as ensuring that Windows Firewall is enabled for the LAN connection.
