I just finished building my first computer today and unfortuneately I cannot get the machine to boot. When I push the power button, everything comes on for about 2 seconds, then shuts off. It does this over and over again. All the parts I am using are brand new, so I am wondering if there is something I didn't set (jumper, etc.) that could be causing this problem. Here are my specs:

PSU: Antec TrueBlue 480W
MOBO: ASUS K8N-E
CPU: Athlon 3400+
Video: BFG 6800GT
Case: Antec P160 (2 120mm Fans)

Everything comes on, i.e. all fans start spinning, LED on front, blue LEDs inside, etc. Then everything shuts off. I have gone through all the manuals and can't find any help. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Confirm that the video card is fully bottomed out in the slot, since there are two layers of contacts in there. Also, make sure you got this thing plugged in, and that you gave the video card its necessary power cables too. And you did mount the motherboard on standoffs, right?

did u put your processor in backwards? MY friend did and it did what you are saying. The gold arrow is supposed to be pointing away from the lever.

Hey Thanks! I didn't have the 12V ATX plugged in. Didn't even know I was supposed to! It now boots up and stays on (I'm takin' baby steps here). What is the 12V ATX for? I didn't see that in any of the online walkthroughs.

Thanks again. Hopefully I won't run into any more major troubles.
