It is the only game in the series i have not played. I have them all on cd and played them all.
The game runs on windows 10 so far when selecting windows xp service pack 3 compatibility mode and running as administrator.
The game has popped up in the radeon settings menu, will be fun to do some overriding driver settings to see if i can boost image quality a bit and keep the game running.
The ingame menu allows for adjusting the resolution and colordepth, so there is no real need to use the separate program for these options which starts every time. For some reason, the game is not able to remember what resolution i want to play.

I would love to see a new soul reaver series with current available image quality.
The fighting and the puzzle solving was always so much fun as are the ingame cut scenes making the story even more exiting.

edit, the resolution settings program pops up every time.

I only played Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on the PS1 and I don't think I ever beat the game. I remember I found the hidden city with the humans and I spent all my time impaling them to walls and was more concerned about screwing around than actually playing the game. That being said, I saw the entire LoK series on Steam during one of their sales for $1.00 for all three games and picked them up but I still haven't played them.

Maybe after I finish Mad Max I'll load them up and try them out.

Well, the newer versions of soul reaver that i have on cd, all of them work perfectly with an analog controller. I still have a psx to usb device and a psx dual shock controller with two analog sticks and 16 buttons. This will pop up in windows as a hid device with two analog sticks and 16 buttons.
I have used that controller with pleasure with all iterations of soul reaver. However, it seems the original soul reaver only works with buttons and not with the analog sticks.
I tried calibrating but no luck so far. It is as if there is no dead zone for the center position. Alas, i might have to invest in pinnacle game profiler if i cannot get my normal buttons for movement to function.

To my knowledge, the joysticks work with the Steam version. I also have one of those PSX to USB adapters but I only use it for emulators. A wired 360 controller works perfectly fine for everything else.

Well, even when i turn on the analog stick or use game pad mode with the analog sticks disabled.
For some reason Raziel keeps running forward. But not in keyboard mode.
I will fiddle around with it some more and try the calibration again to see if that makes any difference.
With all my other soul reaver games i did not have any issue.
I will figure something out.

I'm pretty sure you either paid either 98 cents or .98 dollars... don't need another failed Verizon math called out at Anandtech.

You are right, overlooked that. Thanks.

I got it working, seems i have to calibrate the game pad and the analog sticks separately, so twice the calibration has to be run. It works fine now. Raziel is now moving fine with my good ol' psx controller in gamepad mode.:)

that is one series i regret not playing on PS.
Ok, you seriously have to either change your name or I need to reconnect my NES and find my copy of Dig Dug and Dig Dug 2. Every time I see you post I see your name as Dig Dug and I want to go blow up indigenous creatures with hot air and level their land with a drill.
