17 amps on the 12V rail for a "450-watt" PSU?? Pathetic!

My Seasonic Super Tornado puts out a continuous 18A on the 12V rail and it's a 300W unit, and is far quieter. It also costs around $50 at Newegg if I remember right.

I would get the Super Tornado 400 though because it has the 24-pin mobo plug, and it puts out a continuous 22amps on the 12V rail.

Or go dual rail and get the Seasonic S12-430 at Ewiz.com for around $80.

Are you planing to overclock at all?

PSU:Not bad, but you might wanna try something with a little more grunt. An Antec True Power (or True Power II) 380W - 480W will give you more 12V amps, and shouldn't cost much more.

DVD: I got a pioneer DVR-109 for about US$60, and it'll burn D/L DVD's at up to 6x (or 8x with a firmware upgrade). Only really worth it if you are gonna be burning alot of Dual-Layed discs.

Also, do you need such a fast HDD? You can get a 160GB 7200RPM drive for the same price. I guess it depends on what you're doing with your machine.

Another vote for Seasonic. eWiz has a 430watt for $78 + shipping.

You could get a single 72gig raptor for cheaper. The 72gig is improved over the 36gig version. If you're planning on RAIDing those raptors, it doesn't get you much.

I normally don't recommend spending money on raptors at all unless someone has like a $1500 or more budget just for the computer (without monitor).

You'll get a better speed increase in gaming if you spend the extra money saved from the raptor on getting a faster videocard.

the $/performance on the raptor is pretty bad considering the storage space you're getting.

74 gig raptor or go single drive. A single WD740GD is better about %80 of the time.

If you overclock I'd reccomend a board that supports at least 3.4vDIMM and getting TwinMOS or OCZ VX

Seasonic S12-430 mentioned :thumbsup:

L90D+ is awesome. No matter where you get it, if you have to return it, likely it will have to go directly to Hyundai, so get it here for $10 less + free 2nd day.

Also, am I missing something really big, because isn't the 3700+ a socket 754 CPU? The motherboard you're getting only supports socket 939... Also, the video card you are getting is PCI-E, while your motherboard only supports AGP. Those are some really big issues you might want to go over.

One more thing, after you firm your other components up go for a better PSU, like Enermax or Antec or OCZ etc.

Yeah.. 'San Diego' is a 939 core. It's the high-end 1MB L2 core that's replacing the older FX line as the 939 flagship.

Ok Im changing the raptors to barracudas, that is if this will make use of the ncq? I wasn't sure if that was just an intel thing? any ideas?
I was looking for a $50-70 psu that had sleeves, dont need anything "silent" as noise isn't a problem to me but if this isnt good enough ill do more research maybe antec or OCZ
I also like Soltek alot, (have a sl 75frn currently) I was thinking about waiting til the nforce 4s came out, but I havent found any for sale :(

I've read some mixed things about ncq.

Seagate is a nice manufacturer though. Nice and quiet, and good warranty.

You've had planty of time to think this over, so why do you still have that crappy PSU listed. +12V Amps are actually more important than the wattage. Do your self a favor, and get a PSU with at least 22A and a good brand.

Im confused I was led to believe this was a good psu, it has 26A on the 12v rail, doesnt it?
Is it the brand, Rosewill=teh suck or something?

That Vid card only works with the Gigabyte SLI mobo and nothing else. Honestly, the X800 XL is the best value in gaming cards right now. It wasn't available when I built my sytem, and I wanted SLI capability anyway.

Get a better power supply, too. I like my Enermax PS. Trust me, this is one area where you do NOT want to wuss out. Some one mentioned the Antec 480W, I had that one previously and it was great.

OK, I for some reason thought it only had 18 Amps.
Either way though, I would personally go with a more trusted brand. Only $40 for a 500W PSU should set off an alarm.

Rosewill PSU's are rebranded CoolMax PSU's for the most part (look at the part number to get an idea) in general they are really low quality, their "500 watt" PSU is more like a 300 because they are rated at 25C

What exactly are you wondering about? They are compatible (both PCIe) if that's what you're looking for.
BFG makes some of the best 6800GT's available.
I don't know a lot about Soltek's reliability (although it is hard to botch an nF4 chipset implementation), but Chaintech has an NF4Ultra (higher level than Pro) for $12 cheaper and it is one of the highest rated (on NewEgg) mobos. It doesn't have firewire though, if that's necessary for you.
