how many people here actually run their 5900 series card at the default clock setting? the truth is, most (but not all) bought these cards due to thier great overclocking ability,
That's a broad and unproveable statement.
However we could say this as well:

Don't know how the pricing compares to other stores in England, MM, but that MSI looks nice. Should be very quiet and very cool, so overclocking should be basically limited only by the luck of the draw WRT the GPU and memory chips.

actually i have both.. and the 9800pro does not overclock well.. as discussed in another post on these boards.... there are also other posts, as well as a test here on AT which discuss the merits of nv's oc'd abilities.

at any rate both run very close performance to each other at their max stable close speeds.

you also completely ignored my comment regarding the pricing that most people see: on retail shelves.

Was there a solution to the original problem...other than a new card?. I was thinking AA/AF might have been set in the graphics settings which could reduce benches by 20% fairly easy.

I thought the 5900XT performed very near (about 2% less) to a 5900 in benches...not much difference.

Well, I got my graphics card delivered to me "Priority" for an extra £25 & they sent me the wrong card! :Q

Now I know why I hate online shopping.
I will never trust it again. :(

What card did they send you?

BTW MidnightMick
Don't give up on etailers BUT let the guys here help you on making decisions on where to buy from.
For instance in the US, Mwave, NewEgg and ZipZoomFly all have excellent ratings and do very well on orders.

Ask us ( AT members ) who is really good in your area before making a snap buy.
That way you get the benefit of experiences from us.

I ordered a MSI FX 5900 (Nu)
Part Number MS-8929-01S

They sent me:
MSI FX5900XT
Part Number - MS-8937-040

The thing is I wanted the 5900Nu for the higher clock rate & the additional backwards compatibility of drivers (the original 5900 go back to 45.23 & not 53.03 with the FX series)

I know the difference between the 2 is minimal, but that's not the point, I just want what I had paid for.

As regards to ERetailers - I live in the UK, so if anyone can point me to a "Good" online store that has good customer support then I'm all ears.
