Looks cool man!

How long did it take you to build it?

Took me about 5 hours to assemble and another couple hours to finish up (cut the body and paint it and other misc stuff). Probably about 8 hours total.

It doesn't have a speedometer ;) But it's electric so not too fast. Faster than I can run is all I can say.

Hmm.. what's the range on those little wireless cameras that run off a 9v battery? Could you mount one on the RC car for first person driving?

Don't downplay electric. It can go well into 60mph. I'm guessing you havea 20+turn motor though for your first kit. Are you using an electrical or mechanical speed controller?

Electronic speed controller. And yea, it's a 20+ turn motor. Any help on how to get better speed and stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That's what I'd like to try. I think that it would be fun to drive around from my desk...until a car came by and squished it.

Cool, does it drift?

I've really wanted an RC car for a long time. I have one in a closet some where from 10+ years ago. I wonder if I could upgrade it myself...you know, trick it out :p - It doesn't work, and wasn't too fast even when it did work.

Cool, nice radio too. Those smaller electric road cars are fun, but if you REALLY want to have fun, get yourself a 1/8th scale off-road buggy. :D

That looks like a 1/10 scale to me. Not really suited for indoor use unless you got a huge garage. You'll be better off with something like an HPI Micro RS4 1/18 scale for that.

Its been a while since mine has seen the road, but I have one of these duratrx chargers and two 3000 mah nimh batteries. Battery capacity has probably gone up since I've been in it.

As for basic speed, there are tons of accessories but it basically comes down to a lower turn motor and the speed controller that can handle it. better tires and suspension is another thing you might want later, but I think its a waste of money if you're just getting into it.

Otherwise, its mainly just some aluminum rice and things like headlights and tail/brake lights.

I have a nitro powered RC car with a 2 speed transmission and honestly there isn't really anywhere around here I can run it. I can hardly get it out of first gear on my street and as soon as it kicks into second I have to begin slowing because I'm running out of room. It will do 40mph easily.

I do like buying and painting the bodies though. I have a yellow Lotus Exige body for it that's pretty cool. ;)

Yea, it is a 1/10th. I got one 1800 battery and one 3000 so that I could see the difference. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to head out and play some more now :)

My neighbor has one, except its gas powered.

The thing is loud as hell, but still incredibly fast and cool.

hell yes they are fun :) i have been in and out of the hobby for most of my life. currently i have one of the 1:18 4wd associated trucks - they are fun and fast, even stock - ~20MPH. you can easily get them to over 40MPH, and yes, it is electric. but honestly, 40MPH and 1:18 scale is a little too much fun :)

congrats :)

I had a Traxxas T-maxx a few years back. A lot of fun. A lot more trouble to get running right(gas).
