OK. I really liked my Civic LX.

Here are some nuisances...
Rugs wear out easily.
Interior quality is horrible.
Rattles like no tomorrow.
Idling is horrific! Especially when you slowly turn the wheel at a stop.

Despite that...I realize now that rattles and interior quality isn't everything. I would love to get a new Si coupe and turbo the damned thing. Rattles and interior can go to hell...although popping 3rd gear might be annoying. :D

I wish I had learned to love my Civic for the engine, and potential, than waste every moment wondering where that new rattle came from. :(

3rd gear problem was fixed, happens no more on the 08 and newer, and there is a fix for 07 and older. i have an 07 si sedan...hasn't had any problems yet at 15k miles

OP, congrats and definitely register on 8thcivic

Keep food/drink/smokers out of it.

Honda motors do great with stuff like Schaeffer's or Amsoil. How long are you gonna keep it?

Nice car :)

You know, they sell the OEM floormats at the dealership right? Aftermarket cost $40 for a set and OEM floormats cost what...$70? I just order a new set for my Maxima through the dealer every 2-3 years. Rears I have never changed, fronts are due to be replaced again soon. My wife gripes that the floor mats in her Lexus look like crap, I keep telling her to buy a new set but she never listens to me. Maybe I'll pick up a set for her for Valentines Day. ;)

I would recommend reading the owners manual and following all the scheduled maintenance advice in there to the letter. Keep your receipts organized in a folder so when you sell the car you have all the records in one place.

Check your fluid levels periodically and make sure your tires are properly inflated on a regular basis.

Being a new driver I wouldn't even think about mods. You have enough to worry about trying not to become a statistic without trying to ruin your car by modding it.

Just drive it and enjoy it.

Floor it just once under break in. Best way to set the piston rings in for good under break in.
