Just bought a Wii during lunch!!!

Is the Wii shortage starting to ease up? I don't know, but the DC/MD/VA area has been one of the toughest markets to find one, and I finally got mine today! As I was making my calls this week I noticed that the WalMart (Rt. 198) and a few EB/Gamestops (Dobbins Rd., Columbia Mall, Baltimore Ave.) all have been getting daily shipments of 2-4 consoles per day starting Monday. According to the salespeople I spoke with this is a new development, as typically they went 1-2 weeks between shipments.

So on a whim I went to lunch off Rt. 1 and stopped by Gamestop on the way. Sure enough, the salesclerk had just unpacked 3 Wiis from the shipping box and had them behind the counter. I snatched one up along with Mario Party, a Wii Play/remote, extra nunchuk, classic controller, 2000 points and a 2gb Wii card on sale for $20. Unfortunately they didn't have Zelda, on account of everyone else buying Wiis depleting his stock earlier in the week. I bought the Wii component cable from Monoprice.com earlier this week and it should arrive tomorrow!! Can't wait to play this weekend!

They are fun! I bought one a couple weeks ago, first time I saw one in the store. They had gotten in about 30 that day (bestbuy) and they had about 12 left, the guy said they would be gone within 24 hours. (Twin Cities)

I was able to get Zelda on the for sale forum, you don't have it right away, but saved a few bucks.

Bored? With Zelda, The Godfather, Tiger Woods, Trauma Center and Super Paper Mario for single player games. And for multiplay, Wii Sports, Rayman, Big Brain Academy and WarioWare, there is no way anyone will get bored in a weeks time.

Just don't play everything at once. You WILL get bored in a week. Trust Me.

Oh shut up. You say this in every thread about the Wii. Your experience with the Wii clearly is not typical. Get over it.

So is Warioware better than Mario Party 8? I couldn't decide which "party" game to get, but the clerk said Mario Party was better.

Yeah, i finnally got lucky and get a wii today.
The local walmart had six in stock when i call, and when i finally got there (30 minutes drive), they have 4 left. So i am really happy.

You're very lucky, be sure to get some great games for it. It's getting hard to find a Wii console these days.

Mario Party 8 just isnt a good game, period. It might be more fun if you could play *just* the minigames, but you have to unlock them all in the stupid board game first. I used to like the board game, but they made it SO random now that it's almost pointless, and the controller isnt used very well in the minigames either.

Wii sports is pretty much the gold standard of party games, but Big Brain is probably the best overall party game so far. Despite it's kiddy looks, it is a game of pure skill, and the vs. battle is really intense.

Wario is a close second, but your friends really need to be chill to enjoy it. You will look like a total idiot playing it, and other than my GF, the rest of my friends were "too cool" to play it. It's an incredible game that just can't be done on any other system, but if you or the people you're playing with have a problem with standing up and flapping your arms like an idiot or putting the controller up to your nose or on top of your head, you're not going to like it.

Rayman is alright, but most of the minis are only one person at a time play, so its not much of a party game.

For single player, get zelda, trauma center, godfather, red steel (underrated), and super paper mario, in that order. Monkey ball if you can take a challenge.

And you MUST get Zelda 3 on VC if you're never played it on the SNES.

Warioware is a lot of fun. My only gripe is the multiplayer mode really. I wish you could use multiple wiimotes and play simultaneously. I usually end up playing single player for multiplayer and just seeing how many in a row people can get.

I haven't played much Mario Party, just a couple of single player boards. It was pretty fun but nothing amazing. I'm sure it is more fun with other people. I've never played any Mario Party games before so it's all new to me which might help.

You're totally right.

I'd give it two.

I'm not kidding either. I've seen what happens to people and the Wii after a couple weeks. Well, unless they're all little kids.

It's still a cool system, and I enjoy playing it at my cousin's house when I'm over.

Yeah I dunno wtf they were thinking. In fact, the first time I brought it over to play, we sat there for about an hour fiddling with the things, wondering "Why the hell do the other 3 controllers keep disconnecting!"

Thanks for the deal man! Of course, more money spent on gaming = less money spent on fixing my car!! 😉

WTF is up with everyone wanting "party" games? Halo 2 is a great 4 player game, not mario party. Or set up a 4 xbox lan with 16 player Halo.

Party games appeal to more people. Halo is a lot of fun but I couldn't get my family to play it with me. Even my ex-girlfirend and her her friends would play warioware/rayman with me but if I tried to get them to play Halo they'd get frustrated and quit.

I've had far more fun in the past playing mario party in a room with 3 friends than I've had doing the same with halo.

Halo is a joke to me...always has, always will be. Its like fisher price: my first FPS.
