Topic Title: Just bought a Weber grill!
Topic Summary: What an ordeal. Sears sucks, and don't get a Char-Broil.

Get to Lowes, and decide on this Char-Broil stainless steel with brass burners grill for $299.00. Get it home, lug it up to my 2nd floor condo (this b!tch was heavy), hook everything up, and this P.O.S. doesn't start. Change the battery in the electronic ignition, try to match light it, and make sure the tank is full. Nothing, dead as a doornail. So we lug it down, load it up, and return it to Lowes.

I was just in Columbus Georgia.

Used to be the home of Char-broil.

The Execs are still there making money but they got rid of all 400 employees and now have the Grills made in China.

There's your reason for it not starting.

better, but no where near as convienent as propane. With propane I can come home from work, start up the grill, and be eating a juicy steak within 30 minutes.

plus isn't charcoal worse for you then propane?

Hmm...good questions. anyone?

I've got the basic Weber Genesis model. GF bought me a cover, and it looks as good as it did the day I brought it home. The build quality is amazing, and every part is replaceable. The grates are really well put together too. I've had it two years. When/If this one ever dies, I will buy another weber.

i have a charbroil grill at home.. it was cheap, like $100 from target or something.. but it worked great from day one... i put it together myself, which really isn't that big a deal.. takes a while, but it's pretty simple.. anyway... so that's my experience with charBroil.. i think they're a pretty descent company, and i'll probably go with them in the future.. CB grill you showed looked awesome.. 40,000btu?! awesome

every year the debate between charcoal and gas rears its ugly head.

As long as you get good results there is no wrong way to grill.

IMO the biggest flaw with gas grills is that they can tend to lack BTUs, especially the cheaper models. Cooking over low heat is the source of many a ruined steak. High heat is essential.Smoke is optional, and can be acquired on gas grills as easily as with charcoal.

I have never found a use for the side burner on my el-cheapo grill.

Me neither. I considered using it for a split second but then wondered why I would want to waste any of my limited supply of LPG to warm a pot when I have unlimited fuel inside on the stove...but it came with the grill I wanted so I've got it.
