I just got a used M680 desktop replacement off eBay.
It is a second generation DTR, meaning it uses the Pentium M as opposed to the Pentium 4. It is pretty heavy (just under 8 lbs) but it is much thinner than the Inspiron 9100 series. Under 2" thick. Pretty sleek. I has been a while since I used a GateWay and I am pretty satisfied.
Very solid laptop, it has a ATI mobility X700 w/ 128mb. Scored almost 2700 of 3dmark 2005. Runs wow flawlessly at 1440x900. (native res for the 17"). The keyboard flexes a bit but of that that I am very happy with it.
2.0 ghz Pentium M
1gb Ram
I really hate ATI naming scheme. Most ATI X1400's get about 1500 in 3dmark05. The X700 gets a considerably higher score but is half the model number. Why do Nvidia and ATI have to make their laptop parts so confusing?
