Just bought a ps3 and have some questions

I am pretty much new to owning consoles, the closest I've come so far is playing Okami (loved it) and Shadows of the Colossus (still haven't beaten it) on my sister's ps2. I picked up a ps3 120 gig last weekend and would like some advice on the following matters. I have yet to actually open up and plug in the ps3.

1. Games:
Since I usually buy oldish used pc games, the console prices have come as some what of a shock. I have yet to pick up a game, but I want to get Littlebigplanet first. Regarding that, I have two questions. Is it worth buying the GOTY edition, and if I buy GOTY used do I still get the bonus content? Or would it be tied to a PSN account of the original buyer?
I am also interested in suggestions for games, especially ones with local co-op. Right now I am interested in Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Bayonetta, and the Ratchet & Clank games. I have come across suggestions for Flower, Pixeljunk Eden/Monsters, inFAMOUS, Uncharted, and Saint's Row 2. I am also curious about Eternal Sonata, but have heard mixed reviews and don't understand how the co-op would work in it.

2. Hardware:
For a second controller, should I just get another dual shock? Or are there other cheaper options?

3. Netflix:
I looked a little into this and am unclear. If I currently have a netflix subscription, it will allow me to stream to the ps3? Or would I have to get a special subscription for this feature?

4. Mirror's Edge:
I feel like the experience is more suited to a console, but the pc versions seem to be slightly cheaper. Is it pretty much identical on both platforms, or is it best on pc/ps3?

I'd recommend the God of War Collection. The MLB The Show series is supposed to be great as well, but I am holding out until The Show 10 is released in a couple of months.

I got another dual shock because at the time, Newegg had them for $42 with free shipping. Not sure about other options.

You just need your normal Netflix subscription. Note that at this time, you have to have the Netflix disc in order to stream stuff to the PS3. Just go to the Netflix site and order it -- it is free.

No good ones that I know of. It does include rechargeable batteries so you don't need to spend $4 on a couple of eneloops.

The mini-USB port on the DS is standard so you can get a longer charging cable cheap from monoprice, newegg, etc.

Free, and the disc you need is free

Thanks for the input so far. My sister already as copies of god of war 1 and 2 (ps2). The netflix seems easy enough, going to order the disc tonight. And guess I'll have to suck it up looking for a second controller. By the way, is the difference between the dualshock and sixaxis simply having rumble effects? I know it's only a $15 difference, but I feel like I might as well buy the non rumble version.

the dual shock 3 is significantly heavier as well and to me that makes it feel better in my hands and I turn off vibration in a lot of games

the sixaxis imo is too light

you can get a DS3 from amazon for $42-44 depending on the color

Sorry Bro, if you got a slim it won't play GOW 1 or 2 or any other PS2 disks. I got a slim and I think it is 120g so I figure you got the same one. If you got an older one that supports BC disregard.

Do you self a huge favor and buy Demons Souls right now!

But really, IMO it's by far the best game to come out on the PS3 so far. If you're not opposed to a somewhat difficult learning curve and have any interest in third person action RPG type games, it's the game to get.

Buy a long USB cable that you can plug into the controller if the batteries get low; the PS3 will not charge the controller when turned off, so this is a good way to make sure you can keep playing. Also, pick up a set of Real Triggers from Amazon or Gamestop, they make the controller much better when using the triggers..

Games I'd recommend for the PS3: Dead Space, Saint's Row 2

I got one not too long ago. There are quite a few good PS1 games if you've missed those or just have some old favorites you want to revisit.

The newer games are expensive if you are typically are a cheap PC gamer (as I am) but the greatest hits games are $20-$30 and are all good from what I hear. I'm playing through Uncharted right now and its excellent. Burnout Paradise is $20 and available on PSN if you prefer to download. Being new to the PS3 means there are quite a few older and therefore cheaper games to check out.
