just bought a new philips dvd divx player

just bought a philips dvd player. applied for an amazon.com visa card to get 30 bucks off (essentially half the price for this baby). so i got it all for 35 bucks

anyways, i need to do a firmware upgrade so this baby can do more stuff

(i know this isn't the right forum perse, but i also know majority of the ATOTer are tech knowledged, so if you could lend me a hand...)

i need to burn the firmware updates to a blank CD-R/RW with specific settings.

· File System CD-ROM ISO Level 2
· Mode 1/2/XA
· Character set ISO 9660
· Finalised, single session


i'm using Nero Burning ROM, and i'm using CD-ROM (ISO)

and when i go to the ISO tab, they don't have those specific settings, or perhaps i just don't realize what it is i need to change to make it match to the above settings. can somebody please help me out?

for one. i dont have Mode 1/2/XA, i only have Mode 1, and Mode 2/XA. does that mean i can use either Mode 1 or Mode 2/XA ? (is that what is meant by "Mode 1/2/XA"? that i can choose one or the other?)

secondly, File System doesnt show anything about ISO Level 2. it only has three options under the drop down menu: 1. ISO 9660 only, 2. ISO 9660 + Joliet, 3. ISO 9660:1999.

however, under File Name Length (ISO): it has two options in the drop down menu (i think this is what gives the user the option to set it to either ISO Level 1 or Level 2). the default is on Level 1 and it looks precisely like : "Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 chars (Level 1)", the second one is "Max. of 31 chars (Level 2)" and i assume i should be using the second one (but when i do so, it givs me a little message on the bottom saying i should be using level 1.

anyways, if you have Nero, could you tell me how to exactly set the settings in the ISO tab?

dude, did i not say i knew that this is the wrong forum? i love ppl like you who has nothing better than to point fingers.

and the reason i ask in this forum is because it has more traffic, and i need an answer ASAP. on top of that, most of the ATOTer knows these kind of stuff so i figured i might ask here and have some luck....not some aholes like you goose
