Just bought a house..

That hurts my feelings but I guess it's what you're used to. Bro in law moved from NY to WVa. Went from a $500K house to a $250K house and gained 1k sq ft. Of course, who would want to live in WVa? Apparently it's a drug hub and the LEOs are trying to hamper that.

Congrats. It's depressing what half a million gets you were I am, but I can't say I'm really all that interesting in owning something right now. Mobility and never having to fix anything are nice. Maybe in another 5... or 10... or more years.

Orange County, CA. You?

Boston MA. I don't think I could get anything decent in a decent area for $500k, it's more like $600 now but still relatively similar.

I've been to Orange County before for an extended job interview .. I saw some crazy nice and huge properties from the plane.

PS second the pics motion

Just for perspective. I just bought a 40 acre farm: 1000ft2 house, 40x100 pole barn, 24x40 garage, plus extra outbuildings for only $115,000.

Where??

Where??[/QUOTE]
Rural Wisconsin, 5 miles from the shore of lake superior. Basically, the middle of nowhere.

I paid $1.50 for my cardboard box under the overpass. I sold it to some chump for $10. I used that to put gas in my old used van, which I park down by the river at night.
Pro tip: Park your van in really nice neighborhoods. When the property owners ask you to move it, offer to leave in exchange for gas money. Move to another really nice neighborhood.

Congrats.
1600+ sq.ft condos for $500k.

Not sure what qualifies as a "nice" neighborhood. 😵

Jesus, I got more than that on my main level, plus a finished basement for less than 150k

So glad I've never been drawn to the city

That's more than enough square footage for a couple and a kid. And they get to be close to a vibrant city instead of stuck suffering out in the boonies
