This is my first step monitor/calorie counting device..There is an android app and online component to enter what you eat and how much water you drink and how much sleep you get at night.. Then at the end of the week you get emailed a summary of how you did that week..

As this is the only one I've ever had, I didn't know what to expect..But this isn't it.. Maybe tech just isn't there yet..But having to go online, or write it down during the day and catalog it later...to check and keep on progressing, it feels kind of ridiculous. Has anyone else ever used one of these systems and been able to take advantage of it?

I used mine for a good month to see how many calories I burned. Pretty useful tool. I even washed mine on accident and it still works!

However I still do track my food in MyFitnessPal. I just let FitBit worry about my calories. I didn't utilize the sleep monitor.

Yes, there is a much better way to do it, but you'll have to open your wallet again.

Download 'Lose It!' for your android or iOS phone. The basic version of Lose It! is very good and free, but you need the premium version to link it to your fitbit. After you've done so you log all your food into Lose It! and the fitbit will tell 'Lose It!' how many calories you've burned walking. 'Lose It' automatically adds to your calorie budget for the day and you can add other exercises to your day as well (just don't wear the fitbit while you are doing those exercises or they could be double counted)

It works really well, but the premium version of 'Lose It!' is $40/year.
