Just bad timing/luck on my part?

I got in on the GeForce 7900GS from woot.com back on 8/23/06. Apparently a large majority of those cards were succumbing to artifacting and progressively worse problems such as system restarts, etc., due to faulty hardware. I e-mailed the RMA department at woot yesterday, 9/07/08 and this is what I said in the e-mail -

This card has been defective for a little while now, and I figured I was just SOL. I have just tonight revisited the original discussion thread about this product here - http://www.woot.com/Forums/Vie...dex=43&ReplyCount=1710 ; I am having the exact same issues with my card as people are describing in the later posts in this thread with video artifacting and systems restarts. My card has progressively gotten worse until I had to replace it a number of months ago. I still do have the card and all that came with it.

Apparently woot is doing RMA refunds since these cards seem to be failing at a really high rate. I'm just writing to inquire about a possible RMA and refund.

Please let me know if I have any options, or if you need any further information regarding this purchase.

Thank you

woot.com's reply -

Sorry that the unit is no longer functioning correctly. Unfortunately, the 2 year warranty has expired. Regretfully, we are unable to assist further.

Evan

So I missed the cut-off time by about 2 weeks of a 2 year warranty on a product they have to know is largely faulty due to how many RMA's appear to be heading their way for this product.

I know they are not obligated to service this at all since it's past the warranty period, but under the circumstances that this item (I'm assuming) is well known to be defective, I think it would have been reasonable for them to make a small exception. Of course the vid card has been RMA-worthy for quite a few months now, and I guess it's my fault for not doing the research sooner.

Just wanted to share my experience and get opinions.

He isnt bitching or pissing and moaning. He is merely explaining what happened and has a good attitude about it as well.
