Dear Star Wars VCD Haters,

Thank you for making me think AOTC was going to suck. I went in the theater expecting the worst. Although the movie was slow at the beginning, I thought it was good overall. IMHO, it was better than ROTJ....

I don't know or care if you're joking, but that is what I do to my friends when they are going to watch a movie. Tell them that it is going to suck bad, and they end up liking it alot more...

No joking here. People slammed it pretty hard. I thought it was going to be REALLY bad.

I thought it was good, with a few exceptions. The character that played annikin sucked. That right there was just horrible. It sounded like he was rehearsing for a play or he just looked at his lines right before he did the scene and was trying to remember them on the spot. I also think they should have made his character a bit less vader like. Just slap a helmet on his head and a little control pad on his stomach and there's vader. It was WAY too obvious. They overdid his anger with everything. I don't think the Jedi Counsel would have allowed him to continue his Jedi training with that kind of anger inside of him.

I was very disappointed by Attack of the Clowns. If you liked Phantom Menace, you will like this one. If you hated Phantom Menace, you will hate this one. Not as good as 4 - 6. Suffers the same problems as Phantom Menace. No story, irritating characters, hokey dialog, cheesy premise (I totally did not buy Anakin's anger with the Jedi, so Darth Vader is ruined for the next movie before it even is made).

Did you guys critique the original star wars this much when you first saw it? I doubt it. Ask your parents what they thought of the originals and it will probably be the same as you are saying now. Ewan Mcgreagor said it best, "you're not going to feel the same way about star wars as when you were six...it's just not going to happen"

I haven't even seen it yet, but I'm also a bit baffled by people complaining about the cheesy, goofy, (insert derogatory term here) dialog. You certainly have a right to your opinion, but as far as I'm concerned dialog (or even great acting by some of the lead roles) was NEVER a strong or major selling point for the Star Wars series. There certainly were some memorable one-liners and speaches in the original series that were seemingly NOT present in Phantom (one of Ebert's big gripes in his review.) But a LOT of that memorable dialog was also born out of the pop culture phenomenon the films became and didn't take place immediately. They snowballed. We're not talking Shakespeare or art house films here where people wax eloquently just for the sake of it. If anything, I hope they speak even more cheesy so we'll get some more "I am your father" type material out of this series. Even though I was a bit disappointed with parts of Phantom Menace, I'm looking forward to this one.

I read an article yesterday in the Washington post. The critics practically defacated on the whole thing. I mean a step away from insulting the whole casts family. I dunno I am seeing it tonight> I agree with the previous post, it will never be the same as when we were all kids. Because it was all so new :( But anyway I prefer more Star Wars than no Star wars at all. BTW the author compared the Anakin character to Justin Timberlake but with less talent. That would really tick me off if someone told me that.

No story? Did you miss the first 1/2 of the movie?

Hokey dialog? Does the tern nerf herder ring a bell with you?

Cheesy premise? Like what, that there is a civil war brewing in space?

You didn't buy Anakin's anger with the Jedi? Why not? It was laid out that he felt like he was being held back and not allowed to become a Jedi. Did you miss the fact that every time someone told him he wasn't ready or that he was still jus a Padwan that he got pissed?

I'm not even sure you and I saw the same movie.

I caught the 12:01am showing and I'm VERY happy to report that this movie was MUCH better than Phantom Menace!! It looks like Lucas got back on track with this movie. IMO Episode I really sucked ass except for the Darth Maul fighting scene, other than that, just crap. I don't know what the hell Lucas was thinking with Jar Jar...oh ya, I do know what he was thinking...$$$$$$$$$$$. Anyway, like I said, this movie was MUCH better than E1 and if like you like any Star Wars at all GO CHECK THIS MOVIE OUT! If the critics dogged this movie, they really suck!

And by the way, I thought this movie was much better than Spider Man too. ;)
