Uh..I posted the article in another thread dumbass. I read it. You are right, it does not say anything about forfeiture in the article. That was MY opinion.

They're big on forfeiture in Florida, so the idea likely applies to these cases as well-

If the guy weren't a sadist the prospect of being a forfeiture hero at the cop shop wouldn't tempt him into fucking people over.

well it looks like jackson county is set to take a major hit to its budget with all the false charges and arrests, and all the cases this cop was involved in will now be tainted and thrown out.

I suspect it'll end up costing at least a couple of hundred million once it's all said and done.

thirty years is not long enough for all the lives he's ruined.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely so where there is little to no oversight this kind of behavior prevails. If you only knew the surveillance tools that law enforcement is wielding against you right now you'd not be comfortable ever again with people like this controlling them!

Would you say it's fair generally to suggest conclusions about a large group from the actions of an individual, or several individuals in the group?
In the case of the Police it is fair to make conclusions based on the fact they can kill you for no fu^%ing reason@! Society should never give the cops a free pass@!@! They should be held to a higher standard!!

A "group"? No. An organisation with a structure, ranks, hierarchy of power and an extensive power to self-police? Yes.

Hence one can't hold, say, pedestrians responsible for the actions of every pedestrian, but one can hold the police collectively responsible for the actions of every police officer. They recruited them, trained them, and have the power to discipline or fire them. Ergo if an alarming proportion of them turn out to be bad, it's a collective failure.

In some instances yes, it reflects the professional culture that he felt comfortable to do this.

As a counterculture guy long ago it was widely held that the narcs might plant something on you if they were after you in the first place. They could justify it in their own minds because you deserved it. This asshole took it to just fucking over random people at traffic stops. That's a whole different level of shitty.
