It is unfortunate IMO that the Christian Right has established themselves as the one and only face of Christianity today such that the liberal and progressive Christianity has been almost completely obscured. I believe this is the reason why Christian numbers are shrinking. The youth see the unchristian hates and lies of conservative christianity, the money-grubbing hypocrisy and mlm scams of prosperity gospel, and they turn away from Christianity entirely.
But real Christians are still out there. People teaching the peace, love, kindness, and forgiveness of Jesus still exist. But they're getting fewer and fewer.

My hope has been that all the good you realize is the true nature of Christianity can be had by any path that results in the fundamentals of that und.erstanding, including doubt in the validity of religion itself. There is one truth and it covers us all and is when the lover and the beloved cease to be separate things.
