Just an opinion on my picks

CPU------>AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 512KB L2 Cache, Socket 939 64-bit

Video---->ATI Radeon X800 XL 256MB GDDR3 256-Bit DVI/TV Out PCI-E Model "100-435500"

RAM------>TwinMOS Dual Channel Kit 184-Pin 1GB(512MB x 2) DDR PC-3200, Model TMII400/1GB

MOBO----->DFI "LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D" NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939

H Drive-->Western Digital Raptor 36.7GB 10,000RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model WD360GD

Case----> I don?t know who fits, It must have the PSU on it.

DVD-R---> NEC Black 16X DVD+/-R DVD Burner support Dual Layer, Model ND-3520A BK, OEM

What do you think???????????????????

1)Do you recommend the 3200+ over the 3500+

2)Is any brand in specific better of the ATI X800 XL

3)Is the TWINMOS RAM ?The best for OC?

4)Does the Raptor will make an improvement in performance?
Is there a better 7200 HD (Performs as fast/More Storage)

5)Is a good and ?cheap? case on Newegg, with PSU that moves my system OK. Neweggs Cases

6)A good ?bang for the buck? CD ROM and a DVD-R ( I don?t record usually, but must be good for games)

My favorite case Sonata !
1) as far as the cpu, the faster the better, easier overclocking, but it depends on how much money you have, and how much time you want to spend on OC'ing.
2) No.
3) its fine, ballistic is the best, but you pay for it !
4) Raptor is a little better, not by huge margins
5) See above link
6) Lite-on for the readyer, NEC 3520a for the burner. I like to have one of each for copies, and to save the burner from burn-out ! Plus they don;t read as fast as the reader only units.

I'd save my money for more hard drive space and get a regular 7200rpm SATA drive. 36gb is cutting it awful close with all the stuff you can download today.

Yikes, as far as I've heard the 36gb Raptor is crap, unless you have the money and can go 74gb's in RAID it's not worth it. And at $1100 the money spent on a Raptor can be spent much better somewhere else.

And honestly these types of threads are getting really old.

The TwinMOS RAM will be great if you give it a lot of vDimm. I mean like 3.1-3.6 volts. You should get this RAM instead of the first one you mentioned because although it uses the same Winbond UTT chips, they are on a Brainpower PCB, which will lead to a higher overclock. This RAM is the same as OCZ's VX, except that it hasn't been tested to reach DDR500 on 3.4 volts. With your budget, getting a separate DVD reader is a waste of money, and the NEC will do just fine (I have one in silver, trust me). The 36GB Raptor is a waste of good money, since you can get 200GB drives that give almost the same performance, are a lot quieter, and are in the same price range. Here. The Antec Sonata that Markfw900 pointed towards is a great case, with a good PSU.
Everything else looks good though.

P. S. Please wait until the Venice A64's come out to buy your CPU. The newer Winchesters aren't the best overclockers, and all of the reviews of the Venice chips have them hitting 2.8GHz+ on air.

Yea, the 36 GB Raptor is a waste. On your budget, just get a 7200 RPM drive.
The Sonata for $100 is the best deal youll find for a case/PSU.
If you plan to OC, go with the 3200+.

People, thanks for the info you really helped me.

As you adviced I will go with a "good" 7200RPM

120GB is plenty space.

Bottom line...

Is there a really really good HD that is the best "bang for the buck" below 110$

I would NOT get a 36 GB Raptor. They are a bit slower than the 74GB ones. I would either get a 74GB one or just get a regular 7200 RPM drive plain and simple.

You recomended the Antec Sonata case with a 380W PS on it.

The case is 89$ and has 4 stars feedback on newegg

I did my homework and I found this

XION Case

It has 5 stars feedback and the price is 61$ and a 450W PS!!!

Thats why I get confused, I see that "better" product cheaper and you dont recomend it.

What happens, it not compatible with my RIG?

LOL! not to butt in, but saw this thread.......

First, don't go by NewEgg ratings.....ehck they even tell you not to! Second, the Antec case is very nice with the 120mm fans and is even touted by Silent PC as one of the best choices for building a quiet system........

its not that the psu will be loud, its that the psu is crap. just cause it says 450watts doesn't mean that it will ever put that out. the power supply is not something you want have as an afterthought. if your lucky it will just die in a few months, if your not it will take out your system.

Say it with me. Wattage means JACK.

Do some research on PSUs, or learn to go with the recommendations here 🙂

The Antec is a high quality 24Amp (12V), is quiet, and is back by warranty. The fact that it comes with the case, means that the case alone cost 50, since the PSU is worth around 50. And 50 bucks for that case is great.

Try to get a SOnata under 90, and its a steal.

the antec sonata is proven to be a good product, as well as the PSU that comes with it.

i've never researched the xion extensively but i've heard a few good things of their power supplies.

i'd go with the sonata since a lot people have it and its known to be a good product. better safe than sorry.
