Just an idea, to get us back in the running...

Train

I once got to train for track and field in college with an olympic qualifier in the Mile. We were doing quarter mile repeats. I was getting my butt kicked by him and most of the other guys out there. He gave me some advice for bringing my confidence back up. He told me to sandbag for a few repeats, then go all out to win just one, and that would at least let me know that I can win one, even if its not every one at that time.

I figure TA should do the same, maybe take a few days easy, then dump a few extra one day, just to show we can still do it, and grab some new members while we are at it. Ive got a work computer that hasnt flushed in a while and im up for my best day ever within the next few days if anyone wants to join in.

oh, BTW, the date should be hush hush (Those Damn Pooper Cloggers are everywhere!)

I got a few private messages, if you are interested, do the same, I've also sent a message out to a few people, if you got one, please consider.

[edit] Check your Private messages, sometimes they are hard to notice! [/edit]

I have been sorta thinking the same thing the last couple of weeks....Sometimes, I wonder (since our blocks seem to be a little lower lately) if we don't already have a few people doing it😉

Train
I am sure that he gave you good advice for an athlete, but I dont
think it will apply in our situation. In a physical contest confidence can go a long way to help.

But all the confidence in the world wont crack even one block, only
a computer can. We just need computers..

I know building team spirit will help.

Engineer << if we don't already have a few people doing it>>

I hope not! sandbagging is not the way to win.. what the DPC did is not the way to win..
(__ may be too harsh a word, I only mean it in the context
of 'winning' RC5)

who wins?? easy the one that cracks the most blocks , right now
that is /. (for now)

suppose the 'contest' ends right now... and TA and DPC cry 'WAIT!! we have millions of blocks saved up, and if you will just count ours too'

not matter what we have held back /.still wins

so if we want to win, sandbagging is one way not to.

a 48% lead over DPC is not the end of the world

it is just numbers there are no shortcuts or secrets

..Dale

ps please dont encourage people to sandbag

[edit2]changed words same meaning, less objectionable words[/edit2]

Dale,

Several people save blocks...Usually for a week or two...Sometimes, the blocks are saved because several team members (mini-teams) can't dump until certain days of the week. And as all teams (DPC, TA, etc) do it, it's a way for a smaller player to try to get the top spot in the daily totals for their respective team....

We're not talking mega-flush proportions here, only smaller controlled flushes...Maybe 200K total among all TA teams and members, but remember, as I said above, alot of those blocks can only be flushed at certain days/intervals and therefore, have to be saved...🙂

I would be nice however to take the daily spot for one day...Just as a little boost....

Who wins? ...The team or person that finds the winning key is the person/group that wins. Block totals are only for bragging rights...😉

The greatest chance of winning this contest is in the hands of the team that cracks the most keys... Not the team who has cracked the most false keys; those are just unlucky teams... 🙂

Engineer
<<The team or person that finds the winning key is the person/group that wins>>

with that definition of 'winnning' it is even more urgent to NOT sandbag

"last week DALE found the winning key!!, but he is sandbagging
so he can 'look good' in the daily"

"today ENGINEER finds the winning key and 20 minutes later flushes
to DNET and the signal goes out to stop cracking"

boy that Dale really showed them 😉 I bet he feels good 😉

far fetched??

I will support you in your philosophy, but I may not agree.

..Dale

Good point Dale....But remember, a few people still can't fetch/flush on a 30 minute basis (We have several on our team), so all blocks can't go directly to D.net....I personally never pull more than 2 of my PC's offline (I have a total of over 30 cracking) at any one time....🙂

The bottom line is we need more support....We have such a large community here...It's a shame that many don't want to share a little more of their wealth with the rest of the distributed computing teams....All of them🙁

Oh, and thanks for the way that you backed up your statments...This is the kind of constructive converstation that can help us in our needing moments...Thanks Dale🙂

well i definetly wasnt talking about our own MF or anything, I actually thought MF6 was pretty retarted. I was looking at like a 2 or 3 day build up compared to what is regular, just for the hell of it, I think we could grab some new members with our quick jump into the #1 spot.

and as far as confidence/outlook/tem spirit, no none of those make computers crack faster, but could get people exited again and start asimilating

If Mika's PProxy "couldn't" flush to DNet for a day, that would do it. 🙂
