Completely lost my sound

When l logged in as root, a sh!tload of openoffice installation sessions starting spawning.

ended up having to removing officeoffice to stop the madness.

I know, it could be just my unique installation....

edit: Found out that the newest esd package is buggy (found this from the www.archlinux.org forums)

If you are going to upgrade....try to avoid upgrading esd, at least till the problem is fixed.
 
The new version of Arch (.7) uses a hotplug daemon. Version .6 didn't. So when you go from .6 to .7, you're modules config gets messed up, and I'm willing to bet thats why your soundcard no longer works.

As for your OpenOffice issue.... no idea.
