When there are more people that can't find a job, there will be chaos. I think the rich will live in fear or have to higher protection companies for day to day life, or move to another country which I doubt they will do?

My theory is the rich will leave the US at some point, they have not pulled the historical banana republic US imperialist south america style looting and gutting the government in my opinion because there was the USSR.

If they screwed the USA like they do now the USSR would have found them on whatever island they went to hoard the US's wealth as the US would fall.

Now with no natural enemies the US corporations are having a free-for all, this is imo the same reason torturing and prison for profit labor is on the rise.

We have no one to be the shining beacon on the hill for. Thus the corporations have gone hog wild shitting all over their beds, beds they will pick up and take to some tax shelter country to retire in style while America sinks into it's decline.

You must be new here. I warned about this 10 years ago here and up until recently was laughed at with every post that it was never going to happen.

What changed? What I said all along. You can find this quote of mine all over the board.

Well it's getting closer to the number it takes being negatively affected to effect change and you are witnessing it slowly unfolding.

Oh, also as for the rich you are worried about. You will also find quotes I have said all over the place here that the truly super rich that are responsible for this destruction of the country have dual citizenship with Monaco. Some that have come under fire for not paying taxes have already left the U.S. and gone there.

I think if we continue on the current path, the number of people drawing social benefits, and the number of people out of work will drive this nation to breaking point.

Local governments will not be able to raise enough tax dollars to support themselves, but the people will continue to demand schools, social programs,,,, until something has to break.

I think there are 2 factors working against the US, free trade and too many social benefit programs.

Free trade - as more and more factories are closed and shipped to china, there are 2 profound effects.

1 - the tax base is shifted to the people. Instead of a factory paying property and school taxes, that tax burden is shifted to the people.

2 - lower wages. As the factories are moved to china, people will have to either be retrained, or take a lower paying job.

Social benefits - my personal opinion, the US government has fostered a sub-culture of people who think they are entitled to food, free health care and a place to live.

My wife and I have a friend works for as a teacher for a local school. When the teacher was asked the students what they wanted to do with their life, one student raised his hand. The student said he waited to be like his grandfather and his dad, and get his monthly check in the mail.

The myth is that technology creates new and better jobs but the fact is that software replaces workers and enriches those who use it to replace workers.

Software will eventually write itself and work as we know it will come to an end. Robots will eventually tirelessly do everything and wealth will have no meaning. The big question is how we will transition safely from poverty to infinite bounty. My guess is that we will not survive because we do not feel deserving. Too many of us have staked their self respect on the fact they have more than others. They will not be very happy there will be machines that will be better at anything and everything they do and will create more wealth in a minute than they will in a lifetime.

Sure, the Dems give lip service, but at least they try to act like they are for the workign class, and sometimes throw the occasional bone, the difference with the right as I was pointing out is that they are nakedly, and unashamedly anti-working class in league with the 1%, with no problem coming right out and showing it.

I do appreciate the honesty of the right at least in being greedy sociopaths, but it does not make them less wrong in their views.

See my edit above, I probably added that after you read the original. Anyway, my offense lies with the extreme partisan attitudes on display. I am not offended personally with any attack on the right or left, I have voted all over the map and on issues you will find I am all over the map.

I just don't see how any one ideology or party has all of the correct answers, or is always right. If OWS places blame on both parties, and seeks a bipartisan solution, then you have hijacked that message and are using it as a platform to spread your hate and to divide. Very effective method to get all of those people in the middle to side with you.

This is nothing new. The US has had periods throughout its history with the wealthy exploiting the system and the public to their advantage and causing the economy to regularly collapse as a result. The only exception was after the great depression when government finally stepped in and started regulating the assholes like they should have been doing all along. Then we had fifty years of relative stability until they deregulated everything again.

The obvious solution is for the government to start regulating the assholes again, but with all the money they use to bribe congress it could get worse before it gets better. If it doesn't all hell may break loose as people demand even more serious long term changes then either the government or big business are willing to make. In the meantime its the same old same old as people like the Tea Party, funded by billionaires, have to be dragged kicking and screaming back to reality or thrown into the Boston harbor.

Long term, the internationals and international markets need to be regulated. Deregulation is great for encouraging new markets, but these are predictors who will kill everything in sight if you don't eventually put them back on their leashes.
